Job Description

Discover Impactful Work:

EHS Specialist II who will be responsible for supporting the Environmental Health and Safety activities at customer site. EHS Specialist II role is a hands-on individual contributor who will support Customer EH&S program teams from various departments.

Key Responsibilities:

Partners with all Lab departments on campus for activities including, but not limited to:

  • ​Processing daily data maintenance of the CISPro Chemical Management Database, including the Potential Peroxide Forming Material tracking system and data entry auditing

  • Supporting of CisPro system upgrade and documentation

  • Support Chemical Management, Solvent Replenishment and Life Safety Equipment Services.

  • Assisting with laboratory compliance and safety inspections of laboratory spaces by documenting inspection findings/action items.

  • Data entry and QA of the Safety/Compliance software platforms.

  • Reconciliation of inspection reports for all life safety equipment (fire extinguishers, eyewash and safety shower station, chemical spill kits, first aid kits, AEDs, and oxygen cylinders).

  • Conducting field quality ‘spot checks’ of life safety equipment inspections.

  • Coordinating and scheduling Safety trainings.

  • Involvement in Chemical Hygiene Safety Program.

  • Other duties as assigned

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science, or related scientific field such as Biology, Chemistry, or Engineering and/or five plus years related work experience preferred.

  • Professional certification preferred but not required

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Working knowledge of regulations pertaining to EH&S and related compliance requirements with strong attention to details

  • Ability to proactively anticipate and resolve regulatory questions, to meet expected timelines for regulatory requirements

  • Ability to lead and facilitate projects to conclusion, adapt to changes in the work environment and demonstrate flexibility

  • Ability to multi-task keeping company objectives and demonstrate appropriate sense of urgency with regards to responsiveness with addressing any high risk compliance issues, and manage risk proactively

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Excel, Outlook and Microsoft Project

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

  • Works primarily at customer sites, which may require independent work. Work areas may include spaces where chemical-based allergens are in use (such as penicillin, tetracycline, etc)

  • Personal protective equipment may be worn, including lab coats, coveralls, hoods, facemasks, hairnets, safety gloves, steel-toe shoes (required for all colleagues), bump hats, and/or safety glasses.

  • Regularly required to lift 30 - 40lbs, and up to 50lbs occasionally.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $72,000.00–$100,000.00.
