SUMMARY

The IT Support Specialist is an integral part of the team providing technical expertise to the organization in the areas of client computing, application support, server maintenance, database operations, business continuity and project management. This position will report to the IT Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve end user computer issues as they occur.

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and install network cabling and switching for both telecom and data systems.

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and upgrade computer and office equipment to include desktops, laptops, scanners, printers, televisions, projectors, and fax machines.

  • Act as backup support to network and database administrators.

  • Interact with users, consultants, and software vendor representatives to investigate, troubleshoot and resolve reported or discovered problems.

  • Assist in the design, development, test, and implementation of new or modified computing functionality for core business systems throughout the company.

  • Develop, document, and maintain processes and procedures related to the use and availability of computing systems and data stores to ensure maximum accessibility for business activities.

  • Organize, schedule and lead activities associated with IT projects to ensure timely completion.

  • Maintain currency with company policies and procedures.

Education and Work Experience

  • 2-year technical school degree or Associate’s degree in computer science required, Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • Minimum 6 years of relevant experience required preferably in a manufacturing environment

Job —Specific Knowledge

  • Experience with deploying and maintaining well-functioning LANs for data, VOIP and video transmission to include evaluating network performance and bandwidth usage.

  • Ability to rapidly adjust to changing priorities and assignments

  • Must have the ability to work within multiple teams to perform assigned tasks within expected timeframes.

Must be able to:

  • Perform activities including bending, stooping, standing, walking

  • Stand and walk from two (2) to four (4) hours per day

  • Climb up and down stairs two (2) to four (4) times per day

  • Operate common office equipment, i.e. PC, phone, copier, printer, fax

  • Carry equipment or boxes up to 25 pounds up and down one flight of stairs

  • Work in climate-controlled environment

  • Ability to wear designated personal protective equipment when needed on the production floor (i.e. safety glasses and cut resistant sleeves).

Hours of Work

  • Monday – Friday 7:30am to 4:30pm
