Infrastructure Engineer

$70/hr - $80/hr

Fort Worth, TX company is seeking a Infrastructure Engineer to join their team for a contract opportunity.

Leverage the latest technology to solve business problems in a collaborative environment at this Fortune 500 transportation giant. Top technical resources are retained on long-term contract engagements.

Responsible for leveraging cutting edge technology to solve business problems by participating in all phases of the development process from inception through transition, advocating the agile process and test-driven development, using object-oriented development tools to analyze, model, design, construct and test reusable objects, and making the codebase better.

Contract Duration: 3 Months

Required Skills & Experience

  • Advanced ability to plan strategically for current and future business environments, including future technology and business design changes to create flexible, scalable solutions.

  • In-depth knowledge of IT business operations, systems requirements, and processes

  • TCP/IP networks and full understanding of all layers of the OSI model.

  • Various networking solutions including routers, firewalls, VPN tunnels, switches, gateways, access devices, wireless access points, etc.

  • Akamai load balancing.

  • TCP/IP, DNS, FTP/SFTP, SMTP, SMB, DHCP, Cisco, LAN, WAN, and WLAN

  • Dynatrace, Mezmo, Kubernetes monitoring applications.

  • Hands-on experience with writing Terraform scripts.

  • Microsoft Azure and AKS cloud platform.

  • Experience with Azure DevOps and GitHub repositories and pipelines.

  • Ability to analyze complex problems and implement solutions and/or workarounds.

  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously with a keen desire to learn and expand depth of knowledge.

  • Ability to thrive in a sense-of-urgency environment and leverage best practices.

  • Demonstrated initiative, flexibility, and ability to adapt to changing priorities and work environments.

  • Proficiency in Agile project management methodology, specifically within infrastructure area.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training

  • 3 years of experience as a network or infrastructure engineer or administrator

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training

  • 5+ years of experience as a network or infrastructure engineer or administrator

What You Will Be Doing

  • Provide good understanding of concepts related to server load balancing, and other application scaling concepts.

  • Troubleshoot and resolves middleware issues across development, testing, and production environments.

  • Monitor application adherence to enterprise standards and recommends changes accordingly.

  • Encourage an environment of sharing and teamwork among the team.

  • Stay current with systems technology best practices and changing technologies, in order to maintain domain expertise and recommend enhancements or changes.

  • Support communication and response process by responding to users on system issues, maintenance, and system status, and advising and escalating on any prolonged or major issues.

  • Provide guidance to lower level technicians and assists when and where necessary.

  • Travel, as required.

  • Mandatory rotational schedule for on-call off-hours support.

  • Maintain CI/CD build and deploy pipelines.

  • Monitor applications for security vulnerabilities in Nucleus, raise issues with the development team.
