Job Summary

The Controller is responsible for ensuring the fiscal function of the council is in accordance with generally accepted accounting and financial principles and regulations. The Controller supports the Executive Vice President/Chief Financial Officer (EVP/CFO) in ensuring that resource allocation and utilization reflects and facilitates the achievement of Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains’ (GSTOP) strategic direction and annual plan of work. The priorities include leadership and a commitment to advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and access to ensure delivery of the best quality Girl Scout leadership experience for girls.

The Controller manages the financial day-to-day operations of GSTOP efficiently and effectively by establishing, monitoring, and ensuring policies and procedures are followed. The Controller works with the EVP/CFO and the leadership teams to develop the council’s budget; administers and monitors operating plans and budgets; in partnership with the EVP/CFO maintains control of the council’s finances; manages the council’s assets, accounts, and all financial records; prepares and issues reports as requested; oversees facility insurance and works with the Human Resources department to coordinate the payroll and benefit functions including worker’s compensation. The Controller contributes to the overall financial policy development of the Council and manages the financial interface of several systems such as: Abila, HRIS, Salesforce, Donor Perfect and Retail Management Systems (RMS).

Job Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent 7 years of experience in accounting or finance. CPA is preferred, but not required. Proven experience in strategic planning, budgeting, ability to lead a team to success and foster a culture of inclusiveness, teamwork, and collaboration with others.
