Job Description

The College of Health Sciences, School of Health and Clinical Professions, Department of Medical Lab Sciences, Public Health, and Nutrition invites candidates to apply for the Clinical Assistant Professor and Director of the Master of Science in Nutrition position. This position is a 12-month appointment headquartered at Tarleton’s Fort Worth campus. Primarily responsible for the teaching/learning process and will also participate in the necessary operations of the institution. Work hours: Mon-Fri; 8 AM-5 PM or as work and teaching requirements indicate. Requires the ability to teach and/or work remotely at the University’s discretion. This position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities:

60% Teaching and Service: Teach lectures and laboratories within the Nutrition Science Program in the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences, Public Health, and Nutrition Science as assigned. Develop, implement, and review effective teaching/learning processes, incorporating appropriate methodology, technology, and other tools; Remain current in discipline and update course content when appropriate to reflect current levels of student knowledge in the discipline; Develop a system for ongoing evaluation of both teaching and learning, including expectations of student competency and student learning outcomes; Work in partnership with immediate supervisor through a formal system of evaluation of instruction to identify strengths and weaknesses and identify professional development activities to improve student learning. Maintain appropriate schedule of office hours and advising for student access and inquiry; Work in partnership with student success personnel on student advising and orientation. Participate in institutional service roles such as but not limited to, university committees, college committees, club sponsorship, advisory committees, student/faculty recruitment, and mentoring of new and part-time faculty. Performs other duties as assigned by the Department Head.

40% Administration (Director of the MS Nutrition Science Program): The Program Director will be expected to advise students and maintain program compliance with ACEND accreditation requirements. Also, the director is responsible for development of policies and procedures for effectively managing all components of the program and to ensure fair, equitable and considerate treatment of prospective and enrolled students (such as program admission, retention and completion policies), organizing and executing student recruitment, advisement, evaluation and counseling; and responsible for maintenance of program accreditation. Additional duties include responsibility for the organization, instruction, evaluation, continuous quality improvement, curriculum planning and development; maintaining RD credential according to the policies set forth by the Commission on Dietetic Registration; and having regular and consistent contact with students, faculty, and program personnel.

Education and Experience:

Earned doctorate/terminal degree in Nutrition Science (or a closely related field) from an accredited university

Registered Dietitian

Teaching experience in a higher education setting.Demonstrated ability in the discipline and evidence of teaching effectiveness.
