Parkview North Hospital Pharmacy Summer Clinical Intern in Fort Wayne, Indiana
This Pharmacy Summer Internship would work in various areas of the pharmacy enterprise (inpatient pharmacy, retail pharmacy, ambulatory care/PPG offices, and inpatient units rounding) to help pharmacists and familiarize themselves with everything a pharmacist could do with their career. We have typically mixed traditional intern roles with pharmacist shadowing to enhance the experience for the student. Some additional projects may be assigned to meet the needs of the department. Specific projects this role will work on include Medication use evaluation and formulary reviews.
This Summer Intern must have a valid pharmacy technician or pharmacy intern license. This internship position will be specific for PharmD candidates. The intern could choose which days of the week they would like to work, but they typically work 3-5 Days of 8-hour shifts per week on day shift (mostly 0730-1600 with a few exceptions). Hours could be somewhat flexible to meet the needs of the intern.
Must meet one of the following requirements current CNA EMT or Paramedic certification or must take Parkviews Patient Care Foundations course at time of hire 2 years experience in a healthcare related field training time will be determined based on experience currently enrolled in nursing school having completed first clinical rotations if hired prior to 12/3/18 two (2) years military medical experience will be accepted. Must have current CPR at or above the Healthcare Provider level from the American Heart Association or obtain within 60 days of hire. CNA/EMT/Paramedic certification preferred or must have the equivalent of health care experience and education two (2) years previous experience in a nursing support role OR a nursing student currently enrolled in an accredited program (ASN or BSN) having completed their first clinical rotation on an extended care or inpatient nursing unit (nursing school transcripts required). Acceptable accrediting agencies are Commission on Collegiate Education in Nursing (CCNE) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). If assigned to the Parkview Randallia Family Birthing Center must be bonded as a notary public within 6 months of hire. Previous experience is preferred in direct patient care through work and/or school program. Must have good verbal and written communication skills. Must have a working knowledge of computer skills and applications. Demonstrates ability to critically think. Must be able to lift 50 pounds and assist with 100 pounds.
