Position Title: Instructor/Faculty Dakota Language (Full Time)

Supervisor: Academic Dean

**SUMMARY OF WORK: Responsible for providing instruction and supervision of work experience activities of students enrolled in the Indigenous Studies Program.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters degree in American Indian Studies and/or Dakota Language ; will consider Masters in Education (or related discipline if fluent Dakota/Lakota speaker ).
  • Spirit Lake Tribal member or other tribal affiliation - CCCC is required to give preference to qualified Native American Indian applicants in accordance with the Tribal Employment Rights Ordinance (TERO), Charter 15-4-101 requirements as outlined within CCCC Personnel Policy 207. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: **

  • Associates degree in Dakota Studies or American Indian Studies, but will consider Liberal Arts.
  • Accepted into bachelors program for Education and/or Dakota Studies or American Indian Studies (or related discipline).
  • Tribal certification as a Dakota language speaker; will consider Lakota language certification.
  • Teaching experience.

SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES and RESPONSIBLITIES:**

Provide effective instruction to facilitate student learning.

Develop course curricula and syllabi (using the institutional template) by established deadlines.

Participate in program, course, and institutional-level learning assessment; articulating learning outcomes, evaluating student performance, and implementing changes to improve student learning each semester.

Work with Student Services staff to provide the best support for our students.

Select textbook and/or online educational resources to meet instructional and learning outcomes.

Be available to, and communicate with, students during office hours.

Maintain coursework/student records, attendance, and grades through Empower in accordance with FERPA regulations; submit grades and records by established deadlines.
