RediMix Truck Driver

Summary:Driver is responsible for the safety and efficient operation of the Redi-mix truck used for delivery of products connected to the companys Redi-mix concrete operation. This is a safety-sensitive position, and the successful candidate must prioritize and adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures, including proper wear of PPE as per company guidelines.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspection of concrete truck to DOT regulations. Includes checking fluid levels of engine oil, antifreeze, tire pressure, brakes, lights and fueling.
  • Making sure safety is top priority while driving to sites and works with homeowner or contractor to set up truck in a safe position.
  • Keep in contact with dispatch via cellular phone or radio with status of projects or schedule changes.
  • Prior to leaving site, driver is responsible for completing all paperwork
  • Operator will clean out truck in the project where desired by contractor or homeowner, in an environmentally responsible manner.
  • Attention to cleanliness and care of equipment is a must. Required to wash down the truck to clean off excess concrete on the truck or in the drum. Washing requires using a hose and climbing on the truck approx. 10 times per day.
  • Must wear appropriate protective gear such as steel-toe boots, safety glasses, hard hat and vest in compliance of company safety handbook.
  • Operator is expected to perform a post trip inspection of the concrete truck to DOT standards and communicate maintenance issues as needed.
  • When there is inclement weather and the trucks do not leave the yard, there are times when the drivers are asked to do sweeping and shoveling at the plant. This happens as often as there is consistent rain and/or snow.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent thereof.
  • Must have a good driving record.
  • CDL Class A or Class B preferred, but willing to train the ideal candidate.
  • Must be able to deal with customers and other employees in a diplomatic manner while under pressure.
  • Must be physically capable of performing manual work, lifting at least 75 pounds several times per day.
  • Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, and climbing to a significant degree.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
  • Math skills are helpful.
  • Wear proper PPE per company policy
