Summary
The Senior Structural Engineer has a key role, responsible for the evaluation of existing conditions, the design of structural repair and envelope of protection systems, the management of bidding and construction processes, field observation/verification of work in process, and close client and contractor interaction. Physical Demands & Work Environment :
· Required to drive, stand, walk, use hands to type, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance, talk, and hear. Body motions and movements include bending, twisting, reaching, stooping, pulling, kneeling, lifting, carrying, and pushing, with or without reasonable accommodation
· Lifting and/or moving up to thirty-five pounds regularly is expected, and up to seventy-five pounds on occasion, with or without reasonable accommodation
· This job is located in Florida, with exposure to intense sun, intense heat, humidity, rain, thunderstorms, and other adverse weather conditions
· Job site conditions may or may not be accessible by vehicle and can include wetlands, swamps, grasslands, and fields with uneven surfaces, sand, brush, and other natural and man-made obstacles.
· This job is primarily and regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and construction sites where the noise level is usually moderate to loud
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead the design and analysis of structural components and systems for various types of buildings
Preparing engineering calculations, drawings and specifications
Review and approve project submittals, shop drawings, and material specifications
Perform advanced structural analysis and design using appropriate software and techniques
Develop and review engineering plans, drawings and specifications
Conduct field inspections and provide technical support during construction phases
Ensure compliance with design specifications and safety standards
Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless project execution
Prepare and present technical reports and project proposal to clients and managements
Manage project schedules, budget, and resources effectively
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and interns
Stay updated with the latest industry standards, codes and technologies
Other duties may be assigned
Required Qualifications:
Valid Florida Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record (in accordance with our Driver’s License and Motor Vehicle Record Check Criteria), may or may not be required to perform the duties and responsibilities of the role
Ability to pass a background check screening in accordance with Florida’s Jessica Lunsford Act (or equivalent state classification)
Understands construction specifications and engineering data reports
Must be able to read and interpret plans, blueprints, and specifications
Ability to read and write, including interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, as well as writing routine reports and correspondence and speaking effectively with colleagues, Computer skills sufficient to operate a laptop, including sending and receiving emails, and the ability to learn Field Data Collection (FDC)/Inspector Gadget to input data and prepare reports
Mathematical skills sufficient to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Reasoning ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram form
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience completing structural inspections
Active Professional Engineer (P.E. License)
Bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering or structural engineering
7+ years' experience in the industry
Proficiency in structural analysis software
Strong knowledge of relevant code and standards
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
