Summary About the Position: This position is for the Department of Defense Education Activity, Fort Liberty, NC. This position may be filled as a Teacher (First Grade), Teacher (Second Grade), Teacher (Third Grade) and may be filled at any school within Fort Liberty. You must apply to this vacancy via USAJOBS. Responsibilities Differentiate instruction for individual student learning styles/needs. Document student progress using formative and summative assessment tools. Provide effective strategies to assist students in mastering grade level content standards. Collaborate with educational staff (such as other teachers, school-based specialists, resource personnel, and community resources) to meet student learning needs. Evaluate the educational progress of students. Demonstrate respect for each student's background experience/culture. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Who May Apply: U.S. Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Education: Bachelor's Degree or higher that is supplemented by 24 semester hours of elementary education course work, inclusive of the required elementary methods including coursework in methods of teaching reading, math, language arts, and science. Must have methods class or one year teaching experience in art, music, or physical education in an elementary school. Must have completed a minimum of 3 semester hours containing early childhood education. Experience: Two years elementary classroom experience is desired. State or Territory Certification/License. A valid fully professional state teaching license in content areas or the state's equivalent (as DoDEA determines comparable to DoDEA's teacher categories) will be accepted as fulfilling all qualifications for professional teaching education and certification in content areas. To receive full reciprocity the license must be unencumbered, which means a license that is not revoked, suspended, or made probationary or conditional by the state licensing board of education. The Praxis I and II or seven years of teaching at the Prek-12 level can be substituted in lieu of an unencumbered license and will require all minimum education requirements, a student teaching/internship and full qualification standards must all be met. Applicant's claiming military spouse preference under the MSLRA will receive consideration for an encumbered license. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Education and Training Instructional Delivery and Learner Development Learning and Program Evaluation Leveraging Diversity Partnering Training and Education Analysis Education Foreign Degrees and Course Work from Non-accredited Institutions. Credits or degrees earned from a foreign college or university must be evaluated prior to acceptance. Three evaluation procedures are acceptable: 1. the work may be evaluated and interpreted by the International Education Research Foundation, Inc., Credential Evaluation Service, Post Office Box 3665, Culver City, CA 90231-3665 or www.ierf.org/ or 310-258-9451. 2. the foreign institution that awarded the degree is on a list endorsed by a regionally accredited university or on a list endorsed by a state department of education for the purpose of teacher certification in that state (this procedure will require an English translation of the transcript and a copy of the document awarding the degree, together with an authenticated list produced by an American university or a state department of education); and 3. the work may be evaluated by the graduate division of a regionally accredited university and declared the equivalent of similar undergraduate or graduate work in a U.S. institution. Graduates of non-accredited institutions may have their undergraduate work validated by admittance to graduate school and completion of a minimum of 5 semester hours of credit in a regionally accredited graduate college.
