HVAC Working Lead

Skookum is seeking a dedicated and professional HVAC Working Lead with a positive attitude.

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Installs, services and repairs environmental-control systems in residences, department stores, office buildings, and other commercial establishments, utilizing knowledge of refrigeration theory, pipefitting and structural layout, mounts compressor and condenser units on platform or floor, using hand tools, following blueprints or engineering specifications, fabricates, assembles and installs ductwork and chassis parts, using portable metalworking tools and welding equipment, and installs evaporator unit in chassis or in air-duct system, using hand tools.

  • Connects motors, compressors, temperature controls, humidity controls, and circulating ventilation fans to control panels and connects control panels to power source; installs air and water filters in completed installation, injects small amount of refrigerant into compressor to test systems and adds Freon gas to build up prescribed operating pressure.

  • Responsible for supervising and coordinating technician activities.

  • Responsible for completing all assigned tasks of an HVAC Technician, including all aspects of installations, diagnosis, service, and repair of environmental control heating and air-conditioning units.

  • Responsible for completing required documentation, including training agendas, attendance records, scheduling, and reports.

  • Responsible for documenting and reporting all quality control complaints.

  • Responsible for ensuring safety procedures are adhered to, in order to maintain an accident-free environment.

  • Communicates with technicians, scheduler and material coordinators throughout the repair processes to include scheduling the service, providing cost estimates, informing the customer of unexpected repairs and determining customer satisfaction through surveys.

  • Responds to customer inquiries and complaints.

  • Trains new employees, assists in work assignments, sets priorities and evaluates employee performance.

  • Makes difficult diagnoses and suggests solutions and repairs to customers and technicians.

  • Assists QC with inspections of work to ensure quality control standards are met.

  • Provides technical guidance to lower-level technicians.

  • Lead team to learn assigned t sks and gain knowledge of required abilities necessary to maintain workload.

  • Assist Quality control, and SSHO departments in training, and inspections as needed.

  • Must wear PPE as required.

  • Additional general maintenance tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 8 years of HVAC experience.

  • HVAC and/or EPA certification required.

  • Must meet all requirements of HVAC I, II, and III positions.

Physical Requirements:

Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance. The physical demands of this position may be reasonably accommodated for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions on a case-by-case basis.

  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.

  • May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time based on position duties.

  • Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and walking. Standing or sitting for several hours at a time, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also be required.

  • Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.

Requirements:

  • A valid state drivers license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Skookums insurance.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access. A background check and E-Verify will be conducted for this position.
