Vectrus Heavy Equipment Operator (PDTE) in Fort Liberty, North Carolina

The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating military vehicles in accordance with military requirements, safety restrictions and guidelines. This position executes field level maintenance activities, including but not limited to Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS), and operator level functions in support of wheel and other tactical administrative or support equipment.

Responsibilities

This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company.

MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:

  • Supports equipment inventory processes.

  • Move equipment in support of maintenance requirements, to includes exercise and transport to source of repair.

  • Identify equipment status to include completeness, serviceability, and accountability.

  • Verify part numbers, general quantity or condition, and label or data plate information.

  • Support various stock/supply actions such as audits and inventory.

  • Properly wrap, cover and mark boxes, crates, and all material received for storage.

  • Prepares vehicles, components and basic issue items for movement/shipment.

  • Store material in appropriate/assigned locations ensuring storage site meets weight capacity, space, and security requirements.

  • Check for proper loading and unloading of cargo onto vehicles and trailers.

  • Secure cargo (including BII/COEI, if required) against inclement weather, pilferage and damage.

  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet organizational/operational objectives.

  • Job duties and responsibilities may change due to contractual requirements.

    WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work will typically be in a motor pool, there will be times when an employee is exposed to extreme cold and/or hot weather conditions.

  • Employee will be required to conduct activities outdoors requiring exposure to hot, rainy and cold conditions.

  • Additional support requirements maybe conducted in a temperature-controlled environment, with some exposure to electronic office equipment.

    PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:

  • Must be able to operate standard office equipment, such as a computer, copy machine and printer.

  • Must be able to lift at least 35 lbs.

  • May be required to wear a face mask.

  • Must be able to properly wear all required PPE.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Must possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A

  • Must be able to maintain driving privileges upon the Fort Liberty Program.

  • Two (2) years of related experience.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Must have a valid State Driver’s License with no restrictions.

  • Must be able to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship, such as a U.S. Passport, Birth Certificate and vaild drivers license.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC).

    EXPERIENCE:

  • Knowledge of Technical Manuals (TMs), Supply Catalogs (SCs), Components Hand Receipts, and Shortage Annexes.

  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment and interact with higher levels or military and government officials.

  • Ability to work well under pressure, sometimes with short deadlines.

  • Knowledge of applicable supply regulations, policies, and procedures relating to receipt and/or issue of accountable items.

    SKILLS:

  • Responsible for the diagnostic, Inspects, tests, perform minor repairs, and operates wheeled equipment (commercial and Military) to determine equipment serviceability and proper operation.

  • Experience in performing Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services in accordance with the current Technical Manual

  • Identify, track and report equipment status to include completeness of repairs and serviceability.

  • Communicate with the Source of Repair Lead Mechanic daily.

  • Operates Material Handling Equipment in accordance with military requirements.

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills; ability to interact at all levels.

  • Ability to effectively manage operational workload increase.

  • Possess high ethical standards and demonstrate professionalism.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; be able to work in a team-based, highly collaborative environment.

  • Other duties as assigned to meet organizational/operational objectives.
