The Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Mechanic is responsible for the diagnostics, repairs, and inspections of completed repairs for military wheeled and Ground support equipment. Works along with team members and sets the pace. Troubleshoots malfunctions and makes repairs to ground support equipment using conventional and digital multi-meters, voltmeters, ohmmeters, frequency counters, oscilloscopes, circuit card testers, transistor testers, and hand tools.

MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:

• Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on wheeled vehicles and ground support equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment.

• Inspects, tests, and operates wheeled and ground support equipment (commercial and Military) to determine equipment serviceability and proper operation.

• Services equipment with fuel, oil, water, coolant, hydraulic fluid, refrigerant, and compressed air, disassembles and assembles malfunctioning accessories and components.

• Removes, disassembles repairs, cleans, treats for corrosion, assembles, and reinstalls components and accessories.

• Disposes of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with all state, local, and federal environmental standards and regulations.

• Operates, cleans, inspects, and services wheeled and ground support equipment for maintenance purposes.

• Practices good housekeeping, property accountability control, Foreign Object Damage prevention and safety at all times.

• Additional responsibilities include working with a variety of repair and test equipment including, but not limited to welders, torches, pressure testers and electrical testers, etc.

• Performs other duties as assigned to meet organizational/operational objectives.

• Job duties and responsibilities may change due to contractual requirements.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.

• Must have a valid State Driver’s License with no restrictions.

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a NACI Tier 1 Public Trust.

• Must be able to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship, such as a birth certificate or a U.S. Passport.

• Must be able to maintain driving privileges aboard the Fort Liberty Installation.

  EXPERIENCE:

• At least three (3) to six (6) years of experience in wheeled and Ground support equipment maintenance or an equivalent.

• Applicant must furnish their own serviceable, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) compliant, tools, that are appropriate for their required duties.

  SKILLS:

• Must be willing to work additional hours when mission requires.

• Must be proficient in servicing, troubleshooting and repairing military/civilian wheeled and ground support equipment.

• Must be proficient in electrical troubleshooting and repair of ground support equipment such as mobile electric power plants and other self-propelled/non-self-propelled equipment.

• Must be familiar with the use of electronic technical manuals.
