nFocus Solutions Virtual Game Developer in Fort Leavenworth, United States

Role Summary

The successful candidate will work as part of a team providing technical support and virtual terrain and model development to the U.S. Army on Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.  The Army develops and conducts training in virtual 3D game engines to educate and train Soldiers. This rolewill be responsible for the creation, updating, and maintenance of virtual 3D environments that support the training. Travel may occasionally be required to specific locations around the globe for examination of actual sites to accurately develop and model the environment.

Location: Fort Leavenworth, Kansas (on-site)

Responsibilities

  • Model high and low poly assets for real-time game development using the Visual Battlespace 3 (VBS3) and Unreal Engine 5 game engines.

  • Provide technical support and virtual terrain and model development to the U.S. Army

  • Create high fidelity realistic 3D environments and landscapes using satellite imagery and Digital Terrain Elevation Data

  • Strong technical ability to manage assets to fit memory, design, and frame rate limits

  • Maintain project timelines and forecasting for all products in development.

    Requirements

  • Minimum of three years’ experience as a 3-D asset creator, environment artist, or similar

  • Highly proficient in Autodesk Maya, Quixel Suite, Substance Painter, Presagis Terra Vista, MetaVR

  • Experience and knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and Windows machine hardware.

  • Experience/familiarity with gaming engines, Bohemia Interactive Virtual Battlespace 3 and the VBS3 development toolkit are preferred

  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills to explain and guide technical information to a wide range of users.

  • Knowledge of current file extensions used by the industry in terms of models and textures and their benefits

    Animation

  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Adobe Premiere and/or After Effects.

  • Understanding of basic video files and extensions.

  • Possess clear and precise oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and lead a team

  • Submit to required background check

  • Able to meet requirements to work on a military installation, including having a valid state driver's license and car insurance. 

  • Be self-motivated with ability to establish priorities and effectively manage time to complete multiple tasks within specified timeframes

  • Be organized with a strong sense of urgency

  • Adhere to established guidelines and procedures

  • Demonstrate high standards of quality and accuracy

  • Be proficient in basic computer and software applications
