This position requires you to work on site at one of our facilities located throughout Broward County.

This is an OPS (Other Personal Services) positions and as such no paid time off is offered. Health benefits will be offered for full-time employment. OPS employees are eligible to participate in a deferred compensation plan.

 POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position is Broward County Health Department's (DOH-Broward) Health Management System (HMS) Coordinator and assist as the Information Custodian for the Office of HMS Administration. The HMS Coordinator will operate the collection, compilation, analysis, and reporting of a variety of research, fiscal, and statistical data related to public health activities. Coordinates the activities to include HMS Helpdesk functions, HMS maintenance, performing HMS quality reviews, training on HMS, FLSHOTS, orientation, documentation, and identifying system errors. This position is responsible for developing reports utilizing data mining applications such as Crystal Reports.

Monitors, maintains, and updates the HMS modules. Provides HMS user and system support as needed. Responsible for the coordination of HMS Helpdesk response, maintenance, and quality reviews. Uses data mining applications to extract data for performance metrics and to create management reports. Manages the compilation of reports from the HMS system and prepares management reports that include areas such as program services activities, compliance of Employee Time Reporting, and program errors. Design and maintains a system for analysis of statistical data.

Plans, prepares, and conducts formal training classes for users on various software platforms such as HMS and FLSHOTS. Prepares final version of new or modified user documentation prior to distribution to the field. Trains customers in the proper use of equipment used for HMS, Department of Health rules, guidelines in computer use policy, and in methods for performing effectively and efficiently in their assigned tasks.

Generates the Create Assessment File in FLSHOTS to update and maintain the two-year-old immunization records. Utilizes the Patient List Report and Reminder Recall Report to update and document the client status in FLSHOTS, contact parents, send certified letters, and postcards for reminders.

Formulates or assists in the formulation and implementation of procedures related to the implementation of the HMS system for data collection and data reporting purposes. Provides support as well as subject matter expert and liaison to the state office on HMS issues.

Performs other related duties.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of office automation operations and equipment.

  • Knowledge of letter, report, and tabular format.

  • Knowledge of office procedures.

  • Knowledge in databases.

  • Knowledge of data processing equipment, operations, procedures, and workflow.

  • Knowledge of basic data mining processes.

  • Ability to interpret and respond to computer errors.

  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations.

  • Ability to work in a training capacity with people in individual and group settings.

  • Ability to plan and organize.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Willing to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency.

  • One (1) year experience in training people in individual and group settings.

  • One (1) year experience in database use.

    PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • One (1) year experience in using Data Mining Software.

  • One (1) year experience in using Microsoft Excel.

  • One (1) year experience in using electronic health records (EHR).
