Utilities Service, LLC Electrical Distribution Utility Inspector in Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Electrical Distribution Utility Inspector

Seeking a motivated individual with applicable knowledge in Utility Distribution design and construction. Capable of inspecting Distribution Overhead and Underground Construction. Knowledge of Electrical Distribution OH and UG construction standards. Must live in the local area.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Promote safety consciousness and adherence to OSHA, utility, federal, state, and local safety requirements

  • Read prints and understand the design and field construction of Distribution Utility Construction

  • In the field, inspect work completed by contract vendors to comply with utility specifications

  • Report findings of inspections into the AMS Inspector database

  • Assist in the management of contractors during storm restoration operations

  • Provide support and assistance on special projects as assigned by the utility

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Basic Knowledge of Electrical Distribution System Infrastructure

  • Microsoft Intermediate Skills

Education & Experience

  • 5+ Years of Engineering or Distribution Field Experience preferred

  • Advanced Degree’s/Qualifications preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Related Field and or Overhead Journeymen Lineman Qualified desired.

Pre-Screen

  • Upon offer, employees may be required to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, background, and/or MVR check.

License & Certifications:

  • Valid Driver's License Required.

Physical Requirements:

  • RARE (less than 10%): climbing poles, color vision, lifting, pushing, pulling, lifting up to 50 lbs.

  • OCCASIONAL (up to 33%): sitting, stooping, kneeling, squatting, body twisting, crawling, manual dexterity, climbing on/off truck, gripping, reaching, range of motion, carrying, climbing ladders, climbing stairs, balancing, lifting up to 10 lbs.

  • FREQUENT (up to 66%): standing, walking, sense of touch, seeing distant, reading, hearing-speech range, depth perception.

  • CONTINUOUS (up to 100%): speaking clearly, seeing.

Safety

Due to the inherently dangerous nature of the industry and requirements to work with or around hazardous equipment, employees must have sufficient eyesight to judge distance/coordination of equipment and tools, be able to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods, be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments, be able to wear personal protective equipment as necessary, be able to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times a day, have the endurance necessary to traverse various terrain, be capable of performing job duties throughout a standard 8- or 10-hour day, be able to communicate with others, read, write, and comprehend written/verbal job instructions and information, and communicate and handle conflict professionally.

  • Works in all temperatures and weather

  • May work around excessive noise from machines, chain saw, wood chippers, and other equipment with hearing protection

  • May be exposed to nature i.e., irritating plants and biting or stinging insects, and dust

  • May work on unlevel terrain

  • May be exposed to dogs and other animals
