U.S. Mint Electronics Mechanic in Fort Knox, Kentucky

Summary This position is located in the Protection Directorate at the United States Bullion Depository (USBD) at Fort Knox, KY. The incumbent reports directly to and receives direction from the Chief of Maintenance. The purpose of this position is to maintain and repair the facilities security systems, computer systems, electronic and electrical distribution systems; and assist in maintaining the interior/exterior of the structure including buildings, fixtures, utilities, and grounds. Responsibilities As an Electronics Mechanic, you will: install, maintain, modify, overhaul, and repair a wide variety of moderate to complex electronic equipment such as closed-circuit television, video monitoring systems, intercom systems, perimeter intrusion detection sensors, motion detectors, analog/internet protocol cameras and thermo-imaging cameras, video recording equipment and monitors, audio recorders, smoke and fire detection equipment, walk-thru and hand metal detectors, x-ray equipment, analog and VOIP telephone systems, and mobile/base/handheld radio equipment. troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical distribution circuits and related equipment such as electrical panels, automatic transfer switches, motors, receptacles, switches, circuit breakers, buss bars, emergency and portable power distribution units, electrical charging equipment, circuits, light sockets, receptacles, lighting fixtures and security floodlight systems. Test circuits and equipment by use of voltmeters, amp meters, watt meters, meggers, and ohm meters. Install indoor and outdoor conduits, electrical wiring, light, and power circuits; measure, cut, thread, bend, assemble, and install conduits, inserting, splicing, and connecting wires to fixture, outlets, switches, receptacles, and power sources. install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain the facility's security, personal, and laptop computer systems. The incumbent is responsible for troubleshooting and validating access to organizations E-mail system. Install network cabling, hardware and software associated with computer systems. Resolve minor problems associated with hardware, software, and systems management to support operational needs. Troubleshoot servers, workstations, and peripherals to determine repair or replacement needs. Perform routine and preventative maintenance on servers, workstations, and peripherals. Evaluate and analyze the operation and performance of computer systems to ensure continuing efficiency. assist in servicing, operating, and providing maintenance for equipment used in tending lawns and grounds; maintain structure, building maintenance, labor, and janitorial services. The incumbent also uses a government vehicle to pick-up/deliver supplies and a forklift to load/unload trucks and move large/heavy equipment. Requirements Conditions of Employment All employees must wear face masks while on MINT property when required by CDC and Federal guidelines. A one-year probationary period may be required. Secret Clearance- Must successfully complete a background investigation. Shift Work: This facility operates on a 24 hour per day, three-shift basis, 5 days a week. Work schedules may vary and assignment to a specific shift cannot be guaranteed.
