U.S. Mint ELECTRONICS MECHANIC in Fort Knox, Kentucky

Summary This position is located in the Protection Directorate at the United States Bullion Depository at Fort Knox, KY. The incumbent reports directly to and receives direction from the Chief of Maintenance. The purpose of this position is to maintain and repair the facilities security systems, computer systems, electronic and electrical distribution systems; and assist in maintaining the interior/exterior of the structure including buildings, fixtures, utilities and grounds. Responsibilities As a ELECTRONICS MECHANIC, you will: overhaul, install, maintain, modify, and repair a wide variety of moderate to complex electronic equipment such as closed-circuit television, intercom systems, ground and fence protection sensors, motion detectors, analog/internet protocol cameras and thermo-imaging cameras, video recording equipment and monitors, audio recorders, smoke and fire detection equipment, walk-thru and hand scanners, x-ray equipment, phone systems, and mobile/base/handheld radio equipment. troubleshoot, repair and maintain electrical distribution circuits and related equipment such as electrical panels, automatic transfer switches, motors, receptacles, switches, circuit breakers, buss bars, emergency and portable power distribution units, electrical charging equipment and circuits, and security floodlight systems. be responsible for: performing the duties outlined in his/her elements and standards to the best of his/her abilities; promptly notifying supervisors about factors that interfere with his/her ability to perform his/her duties at the level of performance required by his/her performance elements and standards; seeking opportunities to improve his/her performance through training and development; and, promoting team accomplishment by supporting team goals and objectives. be required to assist in servicing, operating and providing maintenance for equipment used in tending lawns and grounds; maintain structure, building maintenance, labor and janitorial services. The incumbent also uses a government vehicle to pick-up/deliver supplies and a forklift to load/unload trucks and move large/heavy equipment. Requirements Conditions of Employment All employees must wear face masks while on MINT property when required by CDC and Federal guidelines. A one-year probationary period may be required. Must successfully complete a background investigation. Secret Clearance - Background Investigation will be required. Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency. Undergo an income tax verification Shift Work: This facility operates on a 24 hour per day, three-shift basis, 5 days a week. Work schedules may vary and assignment to a specific shift cannot be guaranteed. The successful applicant must be available to work on all three shifts on a rotational basis. May be required to wear safety clothing and/or equipment required by the position. This may include safety shoes, hard hats, hearing protection, gloves, masks, etc. Pass a pre-employment physical examination. Drug testing - All applicants tentatively selected for this testing designated position will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment and random drug testing while the position is occupied. He/she is sometimes required to lift and carry items weighing more than 50 pounds with the help of weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers. The work requires frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching, and stooping. Climbing and working in high places may be required.
