Summary About the Position: Employee serves as the Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff (DCS), G-1/4/9. Responsible for directing day to day operation, administrative support, long-range planning, and development of the following programs and services: military and civilian personnel, logistics, medical, engineering, environmental and base operations support utilizing the support of subordinate directors. Responsibilities Represents DCS, G-1/4/9 at various meetings and on ad hoc committees providing advice on major actions and initiatives in military and civilian personnel, logistics, engineering, environmental and base operations support. Primary advisor to the DCS, G-1/4/9 on all matters relating to organizational missions and functions, strategic planning, internal management, and administrative support. Ensures policy documents and the organizational TDA are updated as required. Provides guidance and leadership on plans to improve posture. Recommends hiring, promotion, or reassignments. Takes disciplinary measures, such as warnings and reprimands. Identifies developmental and training needs of employees. Manages fiscal resources for the office, ensuring that areas operate within budgetary milestones and within overall budget constraints. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) developing and ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures, policies and regulations; (2) maintaining personnel/manpower structure to obtain organization goals and objectives; AND (3) reviewing budget plans and processes for an organization. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Leadership Manages Human Resources Planning and Evaluating Policy and Compliance Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-14). Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required.
