Description of Job

Successful completion and passing of background screening may be required for placement in this position.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Full time, nine-month position equally responsible for: Tissue dissection, data collection/entry, sample disposal and sample inventory in conjunction with statewide chronic wasting disease surveillance. Specifically, this position will be required to remove tissues from deer, elk, and moose. Experience in animal anatomy, tissue dissection and computer are preferred but not required.

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Valid driver’s license required. Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions and lift 50lbs. Ability to interact positively with the public in various situations. Hunting experience is helpful.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have a current & valid driver’s license required for operating a state vehicle.

  • Must be in good physical condition and able to routinely lift 50 lbs.

  • Must be able to work safely with knives and scalpels.

  • Must be willing to work with dead animal tissues in various stages of decay.

  • This position must periodically wear a fit-tested N95 mask or powered air purifying respirator and other PPE as part of their job duties.

  • Self-motivated individual, able to work both in a team setting and independently.

  • Good communication skills and problem solving.
