Buyer II

Position title: Buyer II Reports to: Supply Chain Manager Department: Supply Chain

GENERAL PURPOSE: Buyers are the liaison between In-Situ's supply chain partners (suppliers) and In-Situ. They perform a key function in managing materials supply line to ensure product manufacturing is consistently supported, as well as minimizing excess inventory. Responsibilities include using Lean Manufacturing Principles to manage and execute Purchase Orders, releases, Kanban scans, past due and delivery expedites. Utilize the information systems to analyze requirements and execute transactions. Work closely with suppliers to coordinate orders, deliveries and expedites. ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Actively monitor Kanban inventory levels and triggers for re-ordering. Actively monitor Consumption Based Procurement Report and order according to recommended ordering practice. Review past due deliveries on purchase orders; follow up with suppliers to determine status and updated expected due dates. Respond to expedite situations, where a delivery is required in the near-term to avoid a manufacturing lines down situation. Analyze supply and demand, and prepare blanket purchase orders, gaining approval when required. Foster healthy supplier relationships, working toward win-win outcomes. Identify waste and drive improvements throughout the supply chain, build partnerships, add value to the business, and support the lean manufacturing model. Identify purchasing process improvement opportunities, to eliminate waste/cost, and improve efficiencies and service level. Support accounting and finance in reconciling transactions and inventory amounts as needed. Analyze potential needs and if warranted implement new programs, processes, and standard work to support material flow. Support global initiatives in supply chain management. Write and support Engineering Change Requests for purchased products in production. Lead and write Supplier Change Requests for purchased products in production. Support New Product Development efforts in transitioning new products into production including quoting and procuring sample materials and sometimes taking the lead to identify sourcing solutions. Lead materials requirements in engineering change order system and product phase-in/phase-out planning based on new material availability and usage of on-hand material. Crosstrain for other commodities, providing the ability to back up the purchasing manager or other buyers. Understand, define, and document departmental policies and procedures.

OTHER DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintain close working relationships with suppliers. Drive continuous improvement to the processes that support the business. Identify and drive material cost improvements opportunities and lead related projects to support annual margin improvement goals.

Encourage suppliers to provide input and suggestions, and help them to improve their pricing, quality, and timely deliveries. Exhibit openness and honesty with both suppliers and internal customers. Participate in internal and external training and workshops. Support inventory control and cost accounting requirements relevant to assigned items, including cycle count, inventory usage and discrepancy resolution. Support materials and production teams in the event of absences. Actively pursue on-going personal development of relevant knowledge and skills.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Must be a team player capable with partnering and creating relationships with cross functional teams internally. Must be a Self-starter with the ability to work independently while relentlessly to pursing improvements. Must manage project timelines and objectives. Must have experience working in a Lean manufacturing environment. Must have an in depth understanding of a Kanban pull inventory system and related processes. Must be excellent with numbers and proficient in basic math. Must be roficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs; personal computing tools including word processing, spreadsheets and order processing applications. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as individual and team interaction skills. Ability to effectively communicate with cross functional teams and offer ideas and solutions. Strong interpersonal, analytical & statistical skills. EDUCATION OR FORMAL TRAINING: Required: Excellent knowledge base in Microsoft office portfolio. 2+ years working experience in supply chain or a related field. Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Related Field, training in Toyota Production System, JIT, Lean Supply Chain tools, and Inventory Management. TOTAL REWARDS Compensation: Compensation will be commensurate with the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as alignment with market data and internal comps.
