Description of Work Unit

The Department of Computer Information Systems has twelve full-time faculty and is one of five departments in the College of Business. The Department, founded in 1964, was one of the first CIS Departments in the country. Together, the Department and College provide excellent support for research including summer research programs and a dedicated lab for behavioral research.

The CIS department has approximately 200 undergraduate students and 200 graduate students enrolled in its on-campus and online Master of Computer Information Systems ( MCIS ) program. The MCIS program, offered to online learners using state-of-the-art “lecture capture” delivery model, has consistently been ranked as one of the top 20 information systems programs in the nation.

Position Summary

The Department of Computer Information Systems in the College of Business at Colorado State University invites applications for a nine-month tenure-track position. Rank is at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The Department has a strong record of research and teaching accomplishments and expects faculty to be active in the academic community.

The anticipated start date is August 2025.

Salary will be competitive based upon credentials and experience.

Required Job Qualifications

Applicant must have (or expect to receive by the start of employment) a doctoral degree in Information Systems or a related field and demonstrated potential to publish in premier and high-quality scholarly journals.

Preferred Job Qualifications

For those applying as Assistant Professor, preference will be given to candidates with:

  • Articles accepted/published in premier and high-quality information systems journals;

  • Evidence of an active research pipeline;

  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness; and

  • Interest to teach courses in cybersecurity, analytics, machine learning, and AI.

For those applying as Associate Professor, preference will be given to candidates with:

  • A record of publications in high-quality and premier information systems journals commensurate with academic experience;

  • Evidence of an active research pipeline;

  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness;

  • Experience teaching courses in contemporary/emerging IS areas such as cybersecurity, analytics, machine learning, and AI; and

  • A record of impactful contributions to the discipline and/or their university through leadership roles.
