Description of Work Unit

Founded in 1870, Colorado State University is among the nation’s leading research universities and enrolls approximately 32,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. The Colorado State University Department of Athletics sponsors 16 men’s and women’s intercollegiate sports and competes as a member of the NCAA Division I- FBS and the Mountain West Conference. The University is located in Fort Collins, Colorado, 65 miles north of Denver. Position Summary

The Assistant Director of Broadcasting and Video Boards’ primary responsibilities are to assist with live event broadcasting, streams, and in-venue content on a variety of video boards for Colorado State Athletics video production. Individual is responsible for collaborating with internal and external constituency groups to create a best-in-class broadcast and in-venue fan experience, utilizing existing and emerging video technologies, instituting best practices, developing unit workflows, and cultivating fan engagement and affinity through compelling video and digital media content as assigned. Position will directly assist the Assistant Athletic Director for Broadcast and Creative Services as assigned with key focuses on game-day video production for assigned events including the in-venue broadcast as well as streaming.

Required Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in video production, communications, marketing, business, management, fine arts or any other field related to duties and responsibilities;

  • Minimum of two years of previous experience in video production/digital media content (student, intern, GA, and professional experience applicable)

  • Knowledge in the fields of marketing, sales, multimedia and technology

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills

  • Proficiency in a variety of software products and video/graphic design programs

  • Ability to work on projects individually, as well as within a team

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at one time and meet deadlines

  • Knowledge of applicable NCAA rules and regulations; willingness to report any rules violations; commitment to the Department’s culture of compliance

  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse community and advance the Department’s commitment to diversity and inclusion

  • Ability and willingness to conduct activities in compliance with NCAA , Mountain West, and Colorado State University rules and regulations

  • Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays and ability to travel

  • Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a driver’s license or access to a licensed driver by the employment start date.

Preferred Job Qualifications

  • Master’s degree preferred

  • Previous experience in NCAA Division I Athletics or similar live production events, including camera crew directing and the use of replays

  • Student employee and freelance production supervisory experience

Duty/Responsibility

  • Collaborate with the marketing staff, Rams Sports Properties (Learfield, Inc.) and other entities on game-day scripts and presentation of the game-day experience as it relates to the video board and in-game environment.

  • Plan and produce game-day video roll-ins, highlights and other video pieces during live events.

  • Call the event while on headset communication with the rest of the production crew and game-day marketing staff.

  • Effectively use Venus control, live video production equipment and stats integration in the event production

  • Assist in the creation of in-venue videoboard creative materials including graphics for in-house board shows and for the ribbon boards; including use of Xpression, Chyron Click Effects, and Daktronics; as well as video prompts, starting lineups, and other fan-facing content.

  • Serve in various live video positions and roles – Director, Technical Director, Producer, Replay, Engineering – when needed.

  • Set up equipment and work independently with limited supervision.

  • Execute live event broadcasts and streams across a variety of networks, including but not limited to conference-affiliated networks, third-tier rights holders, OTA feeds, and OTT feeds

  • Serve in various live video positions and roles – Director, Technical Director, Producer, Replay, Engineering – when needed.

  • Create and distribute graphics for live streams as necessary.

  • In collaboration with the Assistant Athletic Director for Broadcast and Creative Services, seek new ways to enhance the broadcast stream and serve as a thought-leader to enhance the viewing experience.

  • Set up equipment and work independently with limited supervision.

Duty/Responsibility

  • Participate as a member of the External Affairs unit and RamVision department by attending staff meetings and collaborating on initiatives.

  • Participate in events involving recruitment of student-athletes when applicable.

  • Manage, train and coordinate student employees for various roles within RamVision department.

  • Coordinate freelance production staff as deemed necessary and coordinate freelance payments with Business Office.

  • Ensure compliance with all departmental, University, conference and NCAA procedures, rules and regulations.
