We are looking for a Operational Vendor Manager to join our Global Business Services team in Florham Park, NJ.

The Operational Vendor Management role will be in charge of steering the management of operational services, quality and structures of activities related to the import and transportation of BASF materials, providing a tactical interface between the internal businesses and external vendors, as well as steering regular operational meetings and attend vendor performance review meetings pertaining to import performance and process management that includes import carrier performance reviews.

As a Operational Vendor Manager Import, you create chemistry by...

  • Being responsible of actioning and escalating operational requests to/from import vendors. You will manage import transportation issues, liner/carrier and other relevant services, such as providing support for collect freight shipment arrangements from 3rd Party Suppliers booked on BASF contract.

  • Promoting the continuous improvement of import transportation management, carrier and service provider operations, by aligning and collaborating with other OVM Import Exports teams to identify trends and implement measures necessary to reduce complexities and improve import and transport performance

  • Managing the import activities for delivery and distribution of goods for internal businesses, and recommending import solutions and provide consultation to them. You will support internal businesses with escalation requests, provide knowledge of import process requirements, and provide support for continuous improvement projects related to imports.

  • Reviewing monthly unanticipated accessorial costs to identify process and / or service performance failures to implement sustainable actions to prevent future occurrences

  • Collaborating on all local, regional, and global reporting and other informative request that are relevant to Import

  • Working closely with other BASF departments, such as BASF Freight Payment to identify and document reimbursement audit requirements for import vendors when new charges are implemented, and BASF Non-Conformance Quality Analyst and Claims Department with operational and process questions and disputes when required

If you...

  • Have a bachelor's degree or above in international trade, logistics, supply chain or related discipline.

  • Possess 5+ years of working experience in logistics and/or import & export operations related.

  • Have Supply chain management / operational logistics knowledge

  • Have working experience in chemical industry it would be a plus

  • Possess SAP experience it would be preferred
