Special Information

  • This position is a hybrid position which allows the incumbent to complete their work at both an NAU site, campus, or facility and at a non-centralized site with or without accommodation.
  • This position is posted as PeopleSoft Development Manager, which is a working title. The NAU system title for this position is Manager, Systems/Infrastructure Administration.

Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Enterprise Information Services, this position manages and directs the activities of personnel responsible for the development, maintenance, and production support of Oracle Peoplesoft Human Capital Management (PS HCM - HR/Payroll), Campus Solutions (PS CS - Student Administration) and Financials Management (PS FMS - Financials Management System) applications.

Management - 60%

  • Manage team members, coordinate priorities, schedule, and assign work related to the development, modification, maintenance, and production support of NAU\'s Peoplesoft ERP systems.
  • Recommend, develop, and enforce procedures and policies for the support, documentation, quality assurance, and change management of NAU\'s Peoplesoft ERP systems.

Technical Support - 35%

  • Support additional systems deployed at NAU as necessary to ensure proper operation and usage of the enterprise applications impacted by NAU\'s Peoplesoft ERP systems.
  • Confer with other ITS staff in resolving issues involving development, interface requirements, and other procedural and technical matters, including working with other areas within the NAU community to identify and promote needed partnerships and collaborations in order to provide the team services needed by NAU.
  • Promote technical competence by reviewing current and new development methodologies, best practices, software, and other applications relevant to the area, assuring that appropriate training, tools, and support are provided to staff members.
  • Gather and organize information on existing processes and systems and analyze data for possible improvements; recommend new or revised systems and prepare written procedures, system specifications, development guidelines, and other necessary documentation.

  • Other related duties as assigned.
  • On call duties may be required for this position.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor\'s degree in computer science or related field; AND,
  • 1-2 years of management or supervisory experience; AND,
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience; OR,
  • Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master\'s degree or PhD in computer science or related field.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Knowledge of the techniques and procedures involved in supporting software development, modification, and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with Oracle Peoplesoft ERP and PeopleTools applications.
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes and methodologies.
  • Experience in managing full time st ff at a team level, preferably in a Higher Education setting.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills and the ability to meet established deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to concurrently handle multiple tasks and complex priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to take initiative within areas of responsibility.
  • Ability to effectively manage time.
  • Ability to commit to quality assurance processes and accurate documentation practices.
  • Willingness to work either individually or in collaboration with others as required by the situation.
  • Knowledge of software development, production migration, and ERP systems principals.
  • Knowledge of procedures, operations, and standard organizational structures and principles of higher education institutions and office employment.
  • Ability to work with people from a variety of culturally different backgrounds and promote a diverse, inclusive environment.
