About the Position

The Department of Educational Psychology at Northern Arizona University is hiring a full-time, Assistant or Associate Teaching Professor of Counseling Psychology based in Flagstaff beginning in Fall 2024. The Department of Educational Psychology is housed in the College of Education and offers a Combined Counseling/School Psychology Ph.D. program, a School Psychology Ed.S. program, master\'s programs in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, School Counseling, Counseling - Student Affairs, and Human Relations; and a bachelor\'s program in Applied Human Behavior at multiple campuses. Faculty in the department work collaboratively to support student learning across programs and campuses.

The faculty member hired for this position will teach graduate courses to students enrolled in Educational Psychology programs at the Flagstaff campus with primary responsibilities to the APA accredited Combined Counseling/School Psychology Ph.D. and the Clinical Mental Health Counseling M.A. programs. We seek candidates with a passion for high-quality clinical care, clinical supervision, teaching at the graduate level, and mentoring of Ph.D. students. In addition, there are many rich opportunities for collaboration and clinical training in Northern Arizona.

This is a nine month non tenure track position starting in ugust 2024 (Fall).

Responsibilities Include:

Teaching and Advising

  • Teach graduate courses to students enrolled in Educational Psychology programs.
  • Provide clinical supervision to graduate students.
  • Mentor and advise students.

Service

  • Serve on departmental, college, and university committees.
  • Assist in course and program planning.
  • Work with community partners to establish potential student field placements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

This position is an on-site position which requires the incumbent to complete their work primarily at an NAU site, campus, or facility with or without accommodation. Opportunities for remote work are rare.

Minimum Qualifications

Educational Requirements:

  • Earned Doctorate in Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or related field.
  • ABD candidates may apply if their degree will be conferred by the start of contract.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • College teaching experience (can include college teaching as a graduate assistant).
  • Clinical experience in behavioral/mental health.
  • Licensed or license eligible as a psychologist in Arizona.
