Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Define system requirements based on customer specifications and project objectives.

  • Develop system architecture, including component selection, layout, and interconnections. Work with the design office to draw 3000 series (single line and network architectures).

  • Conduct system-level simulations and analyses to optimize performance and ensure compliance with industry standards. Also, perform system-level testing and validation to verify functionality and performance.

  • Collaborate with other engineering teams to integrate subsystems and components into the overall system design.

  • Provide technical support to other departments, including manufacturing, installation, and customer service groups.

  • Ensure, with the support of the Head of Engineering department, the earliest mobilization of adequate engineering skills and resources in line with engineering activities requirements (workload and complexity) and associated budgets.

  • Participate in the ITO/OTR handover for Engineering, review the technical contractual requirements, analyse the specifications and standards. Ensure that appropriate engineering resources are also participating in this meeting where additional technical expertise is required.

  • Compile and issue a detailed list of engineering activities and documentation (Internal and External Document Lists) with associated budgets as agreed with the Project Manager (PM).

  • Lead the entire Project Engineering Team (System Engineering, Automation, Converter, Rotating Machines when applicable) from the signed contract date through the end of commissioning.

  • Ensure compliance of project technical design to contractual requirements via traceability matrices or similar tracking document. Creation, updating and continual population of documentation and drawing list maps.

  • Deliver project deliverables according to project Cost, Time & Quality expectations. This involves the coordination of other lead engineers for automation or power electronics as well as self and other systems engineers for deliverables to be produced, reviewed, and delivered on time.

  • Act as the project's technical interface with the Customer, ensuring communication for all technical subjects in coordination with the Project Manager.

  • Organize and lead technical risk reviews for the entire project, responsible for TRA (Technical Risk Assessment).

  • Coordinate the contract content awareness sessions for project engineering.

  • Ensure that the design adheres to applicable rules, regulations, codes, standards, good engineering practices, as well as EHS (Environmental Health and Safety) requirements.

  • Regularly report progress status of overall project engineering, including metrics follow-up (OTD, ETC, ECR, etc.).

  • Monitor, control, and report engineering costs during project execution (excluding RM - Rotating Machines).

  • Issue/validate the Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) from an engineering point of view for the overall project and release them to the Project Manager for approval.

  • Issue/prepare change orders from an engineering point of view with the Project Manager for further release to the Customer.

  • Ensure proper distribution of engineering documents, internally and externally.

  • Participate in CMR (Change Management Review), Project reviews.

  • Where applicable, prepare the equipment technical specification for suppliers RFQ (Request for Quotation), align suppliers technically, and follow up with suppliers after PO (Purchase Order). Also prepare the system design documentation for the project (e.g., functional analysis, I/O list, electrical load list, interlocking procedure, commissioning procedures, O&M manuals, etc.).

  • Conduct harmonic analysis using software tools such as ETAP to assess the impact of nonlinear loads on electrical systems.

  • Develop models and simulations to analyze harmonic distortion, voltage fluctuations, and resonance phenomena.

  • Collaborate with electrical engineers and stakeholders to understand system requirements and ensure accurate representation of load profiles.

  • Utilize ETAP software to perform comprehensive electrical system simulations, including load flow, short circuit, and transient stability analyses.

  • Develop and validate ETAP models to accurately represent electrical components, loads, and network configurations.

  • Perform short circuit studies to evaluate fault currents, protective device coordination, and system response to fault events.

  • Analyze transient stability to assess system dynamic behavior during disturbances and ensure grid resilience.

  • Power System Analyst - Harmonic and E-TAP Specialist:

  • Specialize in conducting harmonic analysis and E-TAP simulations for complex power systems to evaluate voltage and current harmonics, resonance, and power quality issues.

  • Develop customized E-TAP models to simulate harmonic-producing loads, such as variable frequency drives (VFDs), rectifiers, and nonlinear loads.

  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on power quality improvement measures, including harmonic mitigation solutions, active filtering systems, and harmonic resonance damping.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 6 years of experience in Job Family Group(s)/Function(s)).

  • Minimum of 3 years of advanced experience in the Engineering/Technology & Systems Engineering.
