Who We Want

 

We are currently seeking a highly motivated Sales/Application Engineering Intern to become an integral part of our team for the Summer of 2025. The Intern will be working in our Flex Air division at our Copper Ave. location in Fenton, MI. Flex Air is focused on delivering industry leading and energy efficient high-performance HVAC systems. Every solution is meticulously engineered to meet and exceed our customer's expectations. Our products consist of custom air handling units, pre-fabricated modular systems and retrofits.

 

The purpose of this position is to learn the basics as an application engineer in an effort to build the foundation for a strong sales career.  You will participate as an application engineer for 75% of the time, while spending 25% of the time supporting and participating in direct sales functions.  The sales function will include sales calls, sales planning, and strategic project meetings while shadowing the Director of Sales.

 

What You Will Be Doing

  • Perform engineering tasks in estimating and designing air supply systems.
  • Utilize engineering principles to perform various tasks in the selling, quoting, engineering and manufacturing processes for our various product lines.
  • Specify system components or select equipment to ensure they meet engineering design and performance specifications. 
  • Suggest modifications to reduce cost or improve performance. 
  • Investigate equipment failures, and/or faulty operations or design, and make recommendations to fix the problem and update standards for the future.
  • Utilize test equipment and follow procedures for testing our products.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to clearly interact with our employees, customers and vendors.
  • Strong ability to work simultaneously on a variety of projects and meet deadlines consistently with high quality output.

What Requirements Are Needed

Education - Preferred: Working Towards a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.

 Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Proficient with MS Office.

Proficient in AutoCAD/Solidworks.

Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.

Exemplary planning and organizational skills (multi-tasking and time-management).

Ability to prioritize projects.
