Recreation Therapist

Ministry: Trinity Health PACE LIFE St Joseph of the Pines

Position Purpose: Trinity Health PACE is seeking a compassionate and experienced Recreation Therapist to design, implement, and oversee therapeutic recreational activities for participants, including those with Alzheimer’s and related dementias. You will play a key role in enhancing the quality of life for our participants while supporting and guiding the recreation team.

What You Will Do:

• Develop and execute individualized and group recreational therapy programs to address cognitive, physical, social, and emotional needs.

• Lead and mentor recreation assistants and staff, ensuring high standards of care and program delivery.

• Manage departmental budgets, procure necessary equipment, and maintain compliance with all relevant regulations and TH PACE standards.

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for comprehensive participant assessments and program adjustments.

• Oversee dementia-specific programming and ensure a supportive environment for participants and staff.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation Therapy or related field, or NCCAP Activity Professionals Certification.

• At least 2 years of experience in therapeutic recreation, with a focus on geriatric populations.

• Knowledge of North Carolina state requirements for medical fitness for duty.

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic digital communication tools.
