Robert Half Accounting Assistant in Fayetteville, North Carolina

Description We are offering an opportunity for an Accounting Assistant in the non-profit sector, located in Fayetteville, North Carolina, United States. This role involves processing accounts payable, billing, and collections, and providing support to division staff. The role offers a short term contract employment opportunity.

Responsibilities:

• Process and verify purchase orders and invoices, and distribute payments as requested.

• Collect, balance, and report daily cash receipts, prepare bank deposits, and update related accounts.

• Balance and reconcile bank and internal accounts as required.

• Maintain and reimburse other division and department petty cash accounts.

• Receive and process various city property assessments for activities including paving, drainage, sidewalks, demolition, and lot cleaning citations.

• Maintain unpaid assessment accounts and prepare late notices for delinquent accounts and invoices.

• Collect and verify a variety of information and process incoming payments.

• Assist in the review and issuance of a variety of licenses; maintain changes and deletions.

• Use Accounting Software Systems, ADP - Financial Services, Great Plains (GPAC), Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office Suites to perform accounting functions, accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and billing functions.

• Monitor cash activity and attempt to collect outstanding balances utilizing a variety of mechanisms. Requirements • Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems

• Experience with ADP - Financial Services

• Familiarity with Great Plains (GPAC)

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites

• Solid understanding of Accounting Functions

• Experience with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Proficiency in handling Billing Functions

• Experience in managing Cash Activity

• Ability to work in a non-profit environment

• Good communication and interpersonal skills

• Attention to detail and high level of accuracy

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Strong organizational and time management skills

• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
