L3Harris in Farnborough specialist in secure ground and airborne communication and network systems for the US military, international forces and commercial customers.

The Engineering Team comprises system, software, hardware, mechanical and test engineering disciplines.

The successful candidate will be able to contribute to the company’s success by providing systems engineering expertise for product and systems development programmes. There will be daily interaction with other engineers and frequent contact with team members from within the company, partner organisations, customers and suppliers. This is a customer facing role and frequent customer interaction is expected.

    What the role will involve

    The responsibilities of your role will include the following:

  • Understand, analyse and assess customers’ needs and requirements.

  • Document and present solutions to technical and non-technical audiences through technical specifications, white papers and presentations.

  • Chair Design Reviews and Technical Working Groups at all stages of the engineering lifecycle.

  • Produce and review technical proposals, specifications and design documentation.

  • Produce and maintain delivery plans, governance structures, policies and procedures to support system and product development and deliveries.

  • Identify and propose research and study activities to introduce new/updated technologies and solutions. Review the outcomes to understand customer benefits.

  • Line management of 4 to 8 direct reports who are typically experienced professional engineers.

  • Technical management of project teams comprising software, electronics, integration and test engineers.

    What you’ll bring

    The role requires the following experience and skills:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree and minimum of 9 years prior relevant experience.

  • Detailed knowledge and experience of secure communications systems and networking preferably in a deployed environment.

  • Experience and knowledge of engineering lifecycles.

  • Experience and knowledge of embedded system design preferably with an electronics background.

  • Experience of writing technical specifications, reports and presentations.

    Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Knowledge and experience of requirements management and associated tools.

  • Knowledge of RF systems, products and ancillaries. Including product design and system solutions.

  • An understanding of security architectures, information assurance and product security.

  • A background in embedded electronics and understanding of embedded software.

  • Knowledge and experience of Model Based System Engineering, Model Based Design, SysML, UML or similar, associated tools and methodologies.

  • Understanding of Design Certification and product safety processes.
