The EDM Machinist will set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. The role will also fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, apply knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout and machining procedures. The EDM Machinist will check the quality of work against blueprints and specifications. This position is located at our machine shop in Farmington, MI.

Responsibilities:Review electronic or written blueprints for specifications and check accuracy of work against blueprints and specifications and make adjustments to the EDM process when needed.Monitor and control power settings and burn rates.Set up and operate EDM wire and sinker machines.Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machine graphite electrodes.Cut and mount graphite material in holders for machining.Load and unload parts in EDM machines.Use various measuring tools to verify compliance with blueprints and specifications.Perform maintenance and cleaning of EDM equipment.Set-up parts in EDM machine using fixtures or FCS work holding systems.Minimum Qualifications:High School diploma or equivalent.Minimum of 5 years of EDM experience.Ability to EDM machine complex, tight tolerance parts.Ability to read geometric dimensioning and tolerance (GD&T) symbols and interpret blueprints.Excellent knowledge of shop math.Ability to complete quality inspections on work products.Ability to work overtime and weekends. Skilled with own tools and to work with a minimum of supervision.Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge and ability to program and run Ingersoll sinker machines, Mitsubishi wire machines, Roku-Roku and Makino graphite machining centers also Erowa electrode staging robot.Knowledgeable and able to program graphite electrode tool paths using WorkNC Software, Esprit Software and Unigraphics NX Computer Aided Design (CAD) software.Ability to adjust job priorities and work schedule when needed.Click here to view all current Roush openings: https://jobs.roush.com/us/en
