Vocational Training Center Food Service Assistant/Direct Support Professional in Fargo, North Dakota

Job Type: Full Time Pay: Starting at $16.05 (DOE) Schedule: Monday and Wednesday - 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, additional hours may be available, based on needs of department

The Vocational Training Center (VTC) of Fargo, ND is now searching for a candidate to join our Food Services team as a Kitchen Assistant Direct Support Professional (DSP).

The Food Services Assistant/Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides support to the Food Services Manager by assisting with the preparation, transportation and serving of meals and snacks for supported individuals. As a VTC team member, the Food Services Assistant/DSP is also responsible for assisting in the implementation of the person-centered service plan for adult individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and mental illness, enabling them to maximize their independence.

Responsibilities of this position will include, but not limited to:

Kitchen Duties

  • Menu planning
  • Meal and snack preparation ensuring both quality and quantity
  • Transportation of meals and supplies to all VTC locations
  • Prepare and assemble portions in accordance with the menu and nutritional guidelines
  • Store food in an appropriate manner
  • Ensure that food items are properly rotated in storage
  • Dispose of expired or near expired products
  • Ensure cleanliness of kitchen by following sanitation guidelines
  • Assist in managing food inventory and supplies
  • Wash dishes and flatware
  • Operate and maintain kitchen appliances
  • Perform light bookkeeping duties and assist in updating production records

Direct Support Professional Duties

  • Provide assistance or direction to supported individuals
  • Assist with the collaboration and data collecting for assigned individuals annual planning process. When possible, attend the individuals annual meeting.
  • Perform record keeping activities such as:
    • Individual daily productivity
    • Individual training and supports
    • Medication administration records
    • Incident reports/ Behavioral reports
    • Delivery receipts
  • Assist in the implementation of outcome-based self-assessments/basic assurances assessments as required on all individuals assigned
  • Assist in the implementation of all necessary behavioral intervention plans for all individuals assigned.
  • Assist with personal care needs for various individual under the auspices of The Vocational Training Center.

Other duties not listed above may be assigned.

Required:

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Current Driver's License

Preferred:

  • Prior experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, mental health or other related field.
  • Prior experience working in food services environment
