Town of Falmouth Custodian - DPW Division in Falmouth, Massachusetts

The Town of Falmouth is seeking applicants for a Custodian position in our Facilities Maintenance Division of the DPW. This is a full-time, benefited position that works 40 hours per week, Tuesday through Saturday, from 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with overtime opportunities. Under the direction of the Facilities Manager, Custodians perform routine custodial duties for Town buildings such as cleaning offices, bathrooms, locker rooms, and holding cells; washing, waxing, and buffing floors; vacuuming; polishing furniture; emptying disposal bins; shoveling snow; maintaining heating and cooling systems; replacing lights; and painting municipal buildings. Custodians also move and set up furniture; perform minor repairs to furniture, buildings and equipment; perform basic carpentry; open and close buildings; climb ladders; and operate motor vehicles. This position also makes deliveries of materials related to department activities; loads and unloads delivery trucks; may provide building security; and may serve as a responder for the Town alarms. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent and three (3) years of experience in custodial and maintenance work. Must have a valid MA driver\'s license and a working knowledge of basic carpentry and machinery such as buffers, scrubbers, snow blowers, hand tools, and power tools. The successful candidate must be able to pass a background check conducted by the Falmouth Police Department. STARTING HOURLY RATE: Step 1 (\$23.96/hour) ? Step 3 (\$25.92/hour), commensurate with qualifications and experience, with room to advance along the 7-step pay scale. Comprehensive benefits package and overtime opportunities.
