The Finance General team manages the planning and direction of finance process and activities. Activities include the efficient operation and cost-effectiveness of operating systems and programs.

This role in summary

Currently, Whirlpool Corporation is seeking qualified candidates for a Manager, Finance Operations (Plant Controller) in Fall River, MA. This role is a great opportunity to be part of the leadership team in a manufacturing facility, driving overall strategy and operational excellence. The Plant Controller is responsible for the leadership and development of two finance professionals and ensuring a robust internal control system that enables accurate and transparent communication of financial performance to operations and plant leadership. The Plant Controller is also responsible for leading the Cost Deployment Pillar within World Class Manufacturing (WCM) to identify losses within the plant and ensure appropriate resources are allocated to the largest opportunities to deliver on our operational excellence commitments. #LI-DD1

Your responsibilities will include

  • Guide, mentor and develop the organization's finance team in day-to-day financial activities.

  • Lead month-end processes, monthly forecasts and yearly plans. Deliver robust financial reporting.

  • Develop and implement Internal Controls, and ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies and procedures.

  • Drive operational performance through robust financial analysis, resource allocation decision and analysis, capital requisition and management.

  • Work cross-functionally to identify gaps and cost reduction opportunities. Partner with budget owners to elevate financial acumen and develop holistic budget strategies.

  • Serve as a liaison between engineering, procurement and manufacturing teams to ensure robust and accurate product costing. Support new product development and introduction.

  • Drive continuous improvement in plant financial processes, standardization and compliance.

  • Manage plant budgets and drive accountability and transparency with operations.

  • Provide direction and guidance to manufacturing leadership and corporate finance functions.

  • Lead the Cost Deployment Pillar of Fall River’s World Class Manufacturing (WCM) leadership team.

  • A vital member of the Manufacturing Plant’s leadership team.

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 5+ years of experience in Accounting or Finance

  • 2+ Experience with SAP or similar ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system

Preferred skills and experiences

  • CPA/CMA (Certified Public Accountant/Certified Management Accountant) or MBA (Masters of Business Administration) Manufacturing experience, with World Class Manufacturing (WCM) and cost accounting background

  • A strong analytical mind that helps see trends/patterns not obviously visible.

  • Thinking "out of the box" that provides strategic solutions beyond what is available today.

  • Strong leadership skills to communicate operating results to stakeholders within and outside the manufacturing operations and influence decision-making to drive optimal cost performance

  • People Management experience
