Your Impact

In this position, the Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer will use their in-depth manufacturing, equipment, and design knowledge to collaborate with product design engineering to discover, define, develop, and validate new assembly and quality test equipment along with assembly process solutions. Their primary focus is to develop assembly and test processes, establish product critical to quality test requirements, consider process risks, and determine solutions to guide development and product launch.

Ultimately, they will implement and optimize production cells including assembly process equipment, fixturing, and test solutions for New Product Introduction (NPI) into manufacturing. They will also be identifying and implementing process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality on existing production lines.

Here’s where you’ll demonstrate your proficiencies:

  • Leads product and process DfX (Manufacturing, Assembly) input to Product Development Engineering to enhance manufacturability and product cost.

  • Identify and assess potential process risks and mitigations and maintain current on process FMEA and other quality records.

  • Owns new products during pilot production phase through successful and sustained project launch.

  • Creates an efficient manufacturing assembly line, specifying and/or refining BOMs, workflows and detailed work instructions. This includes developing the process flow at the unit operation level, creating manufacturing process instructions (MPIs), and developing requirements for processes and test equipment.

  • Focus on opportunities for poka-yoke, DfX, semi-automated and automated solutions, and design for assembly opportunities to achieve optimal safety, reliability, serviceability, manufacturability, and cost.

  • Drive NPI schedules, resolve manufacturability issues, and make improvements.

  • Work in partnership with external vendors and product development team to define production test equipment requirements, establish clear statements of work, deliver and commission production cells on time for product releases.

  • Perform comprehensive failure analysis to identify root cause of emergent production issues, efficiently documenting, mitigating, and closing of non-conformances, and performing requalification of production equipment.

  • Use analytical objective data and statistical analysis to advise and drive decisions.

  • Responsible for the validation, qualification, and documentation of manufacturing equipment and processes using standard qualification approaches (IQ/OQ/DQ/PQ/PPQ).

  • Mentors and sets project tasks for Manufacturing Engineers on their specific project team, and on other teams as needed, to further company expertise & effectiveness.

    Skills & Experience

    The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

  • 8+ years of progressively responsible experience in process design or manufacturing engineering.

  • Experience in new product introduction (NPI) and process development

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.

  • In-depth knowledge of equipment and methods to implement assembly and test processes of complex systems.

  • Strong process engineering skills with demonstrated proficiency in product assembly.

  • Knowledge to create and refine electrical and mechanical components, assemblies, process documentation, tooling, and test methods for sensing systems.

  • Demonstrated project leadership and strong communication skills to drive assembly equipment, fixturing, and tooling design from development through implementation.

  • In-depth understanding processes including electronic assembly, injection molding, machining, stamping, laser welding, design of experiments, and process capability analysis.

National: The salary range for this position is $77,600- $144,000

Base pay offered may vary depending on various factors, including, but not limited to: job-related knowledge; skills; experience; and other eligibility factors such as geographic location. The Total Rewards package includes competitive base pay and an opportunity to enroll in a variety of benefit programs, generally including health insurance, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance programs, and several programs that provide for both paid and unpaid time away from work.
