Position Title: Commercial Lending Assistant 2

Department: Commercial

Position Reports to: Commercial Lender, Commercial Lending Manager or Market Area Executive

Position Supervises: Other Commercial Lending Assistants in Market

Position Summary:

Support the company’s mission and goals by assisting the assigned commercial lender and their customers. The Commercial Lending Assistant 2 is responsible for assembling updates and handles routine customer questions about products and accounts. There could be some market CLA supervision either dotted line or straight line. Coordinating or rolling out policies or procedures, attending peer meetings and mentoring. Demonstrate and implement our Trusted Advisor strategy to our internal and external customers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide administrative assistance to the loan officer, including but not limited to, handling loan data entry, answering phone, making copies, sending mail, and interaction with the insurance agents, title companies and attorneys, manage loan officer calendars and appointments.

• Knowledge and familiarity of loan policies and procedures.

• Assist with clearing exception lists until exceptions are removed.

• Answer lending calls, handles routine customer/prospect questions about products and accounts. Be knowledgeable as to bank lending types, rates, structure, industries and property types so as to effectively communicate with incoming prospective borrower calls.

• Indirect or Direct supervision of Commercial Lending Assistant(s), including mentoring, training and education.

• Prepare commitment letters and other customer correspondence.

• Close loans as needed and assist in business development by following up on qualified new business opportunities as directed by MAE.

• Track customer’s personal financial and tax returns, upload items to credit file as needed.

• Assist in processing disbursements and payments from loans as needed.

• Order credit bureaus as needed

• Proficient in all aspects of Credit Quest from building new loan proposals, renewals, and modifications

• Provide commercial loan portfolio management support including following up on customers’ delinquent title and insurance policies, etc.

• Attend/Listen to the Market, Retail Frontline meetings.

• Attend Branch meetings monthly.

• Market Administrative duties to capture ordering supplies, organizing meetings, coordinating schedules, drafting documents, etc.

• Complete other duties as assigned.

Education, Certification, License and Experience:

• High school degree or equivalent. Some college preferred.

• 5 – 7 years lending assistant experience.

• At least 5 years direct customer contact in a lending assistant role. Some supervisory experience preferred.

Skills and Knowledge:

• Proficient in Word and Excel; must be detail oriented

• Able to prioritize tasks and have excellent phone and inter-personal skills.

• Must exhibit a high level of professionalism and be flexible with job functions and work hours.

• Solid analytical, creative and problem solving skills and the ability to work well independently are also necessary.

• Thorough knowledge of lending terminology and protocols and bank products, services and policies.

• Responsible for knowing and ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations and guidelines, as detailed in policies that include but are not limited to Bank Secrecy Act and other applicable anti-money-laundering rules, Fair Lending, Community Reinvestment Act, Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, and other laws and regulations as they pertain to the position.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any hazardous or unpleasant elements.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak or hear, stand or sit for long periods of time, open filing cabinets, walk, stoop or bend, use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and complete tasks requiring manual dexterity. Ability to drive a vehicle for travel is required for the position.
