Our client - a world-leading medical device company focused on improving lives through innovative, consumer-centered solutions, is seeking a R&D Mechanical/Optomechanical Engineer. Type: Direct Hire (Hybrid)

Location: Fairfield County, CT

Pay: $130K - $155K

Responsibilities:

  • Design & Development: Lead mechanical/electro-mechanical system architecture, conduct simulations, and analyze designs to optimize performance. Test and verify mechanical sub-systems to ensure feasibility and reliability.

  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure all designs comply with safety, quality, and regulatory standards, particularly for medical device development. Define and oversee design inputs and verification strategies.

  • Verification: Develop and execute formal verification protocols, run tests, and document results.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams to meet project goals and timelines.

  • Mentorship: Provide guidance to team members, interns, and junior engineers on design control processes and best practices.

  • Communication: Present key technical insights to internal and external stakeholders, and manage relationships with external partners to ensure project success.

  • Process Improvement: Drive continuous improvement of product development procedures and global implementation of best practices.

Required Education:

  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or related. Advanced degree strongly preferred.

Required Experience:

  • 7+ years of closely related experience in development of complex electrical systems in medical device industry.

  • Good track record in launching complex electromechanical devices to production.

  • Ability to design and develop components/assemblies using first principles, applied mechanics, fluid/thermodynamics, mechatronics, mechanisms, and best practices.

  • Working expertise in CAD modeling (e.g. SolidWorks), mechanical design and creation of engineering drawings including GD&T.

  • Advanced understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM).
