Primal Pet Group Maintenance Lead in Fairfield, California

SUMMARY

The Maintenance Lead is responsible for providing an intermediate level of expertise in responding to work orders, troubleshooting, and performing preventive and corrective maintenance on packaging and production equipment in an industrial environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND  RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Distribute daily objectives for shift- prioritizes tasks are completed in a timely  manner

  • Oversee and implement any training required for team  members

  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment problems as well as train Maintenance department on best troubleshooting methods.

  • Communicate daily with Maintenance Manager to proactively resolve any  issues.

  • Communicate and coordinate with Production to resolve any issues as they arise or in anticipation of problems as they come up.

  • Perform administrative activities such as scheduling crews, completing reports, conducting safety meetings, and compiling other reports as necessary

  • Interface with vendors and contractors providing services to the facility to ensure company needs are met if  needed

  • Train Operators, Mechanics, and Production Supervisor on technical, mechanical, and electrical  procedures

  • Inspect diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical  systems

  • Communicate with various parties on the work performed and present status of each  machine.

  • Schedule maintenance tasks to ensure job  completion.

  • Maintain accurate  records

  • Repair machines and equipment using approved procedures and standards while maintaining safety  practices.

  • Respond to Production calls for corrective, preventative, and emergency  maintenance.

  • Attending to call outs, faults, alarms, stoppages, jams, and  warnings

  • Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective  parts.

  • Repairs or replaces defective parts. Installs special functional and structural parts in devices. Lubricates and cleans parts

  • Initiates parts requests for  machines

  • Preventive Maintenance – Inspection, adjustment, cleaning, replacement, realigning,  etc.

  • Reads and interprets repair manuals, basic schematics and supervisor/manager’s  instructions.

  • Completes forms connected with work assignments according to established  procedures.

  • Assists Technicians with basic maintenance such as sweeping, cleaning and  greasing.

  • Conducts safety checks on vehicles and PIT  equipment

  • Performs all work in accordance with established safety  procedures.

  • Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA  Standards.

  • Follow Lockout / Tag out  procedures.

  • Communicate with mechanics on other shifts, with verbal and written communications in order to receive and relay specific machine conditions or other information related to the department.

  • Setup welding machines correctly for the process of welding light gage steel, stainless, or aluminum using TIG (GTAW) process to produce full penetration, quality, attractive welds without excessive heat or blow out in both vertical and horizontal applications in accordance with customer requirements or company  procedures.

  • Safe and efficient operation of welding machinery, related equipment, saws, grinders, sanders, and hand  tools.

  • Inspect work and use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, go/no-go  gages

  • Other duties as  assigned

  • Must be available to work various shifts and  weekends

  • Punctual and Regular Attendance  Required

    SCHEDULE

  • Monday-Saturday rotating 5-day work schedule, 8-hour shifts

  • 1st shift- start time 5am

  • 2nd shift start time 2pm

    SUPERVISORY  RESPONSIBILITIES

    This job has no supervisory  responsibilities.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    EDUCATION and/or  EXPERIENCE

    High School or equivalent; at least 2 years related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and  experience.

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive Maintenance Mechanic experience in a fast-paced production or manufacturing  environment

  • Ability to troubleshoot & remedy problems with manufacturing  equipment

  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to work in a team and independently to achieve team  objectives.

  • PLC troubleshooting experience strongly  preferred

    LANGUAGE  SKILLS

    Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

    Must be able to write basic sentences to complete job work orders and read and understand basic  schematics.

    MATHEMATICAL  SKILLS

    Ability to add and subtract numbers and to multiply and divide and understand percentages. Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement and quantity measurements.

    REASONING  ABILITY

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES,  REGISTRATIONS

    Must be able to obtain a Forklift  certification.
