Job Description:

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

  • Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs application software

  • Conducts product-level and code-level analysis, and collaborates with subject matter experts in the planning, design, development, and utilization of VA legacy and modernization tools and systems for information storage, processing, presentation, manipulation, display, or reporting. End product(s) may be special use, customized, and/or COTS/GOTS software

  • Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops autonomous services, desktop applications, web applications, scripts, APIs, and utility programs

  • Ensures VA software coding standards and compliance requirements are utilized and met

  • Provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable and consistent with client objectives

  • Mitigates audit findings for software applications being supported, with emphasis on internal VA monthly network scan findings and Section 508 compliance findings. Where necessary, writes and/or contributes to the creation of POA&Ms to mitigate these findings when a software-based solution cannot be implemented, and towards the obtainment and renewal of VA Authorization to Operate (ATO) certification for all three applications

  • Works closely with and as a member of an Agile/SAFe-based contractor software delivery team utilizing Agile, Scrum, and SAFe-based delivery methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, cloud, DevSecOps, and related taskings, responsibilities, tools, techniques, and technologies

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Education : Bachelor Degree

  • Required Experience : 8+ years of related experience

  • Required Technical Skills: ​Java and Javascript; Angular; PostgresSQL; APIs; Jenkins; Twist Lock (security); Atlassian Jira and Confluence; Git/Github and Git branching; Web-based UX/UI design and coding skills; Use of collaboration tools such as MS Teams and ZoomGov

  • Security Clearance Level : Ability to obtain public trust

  • Preferred Skills: Experience with application migration from on-prem to cloud-based environments, with emphasis on AWS cloud; Government/Public Sector application migration experience a plus; Microsoft SQL Server experience; .Net/.Net Core experience; Data Dog experience; Reporting and report creation experience; Databases and data migration experience; Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills; Self-starter with a positive attitude and very good interpersonal skills; Strong work ethic with ability to self-manage workload and deliverables under tight deadlines; VA or other Public agency contract delivery experience in this type of role; Docker experience; Web development and MS IIS skills in an AWS cloud environment; Single Sign-On Internal (SSOi) or related login credentialing experience (i.e., use of OKTA in an AWS environment, 2FA/multi-factor and related); Section 508 accessibility design skills
