ICF ON-CALL SPANISH Bilingual Senior Qualitative Research Analyst in Fairfax, Virginia

Description

ICF is currently seeking an On Call Bilingual Senior Qualitative Research Analyst with strong qualitative research skills and fluency in English and Spanish for our Youth and Adult Education portfolio. In this role, you will contribute to a variety of research and evaluation projects on education-related topics, including K-12 education, higher education, and adult education. You will help design studies, create surveys and interview and focus group protocols, translate research content from English to Spanish and Spanish to English, conduct interviews and focus groups in both English and Spanish, code transcripts and open-ended survey responses, and draft reports in English or Spanish using data collected in English and Spanish. You will also provide technical assistance to organizations seeking to grow their capacity to plan and implement program evaluations.

The position is part-time with variable hours and remote.

Key Responsibilities:

The Spanish-Speaking Bilingual Senior Qualitative Research Analyst will contribute to all phases of research and evaluation studies. You will help create logic models, develop data collection recruitment materials (English and Spanish), and develop survey instruments and interview and focus group protocols in both English and Spanish. You will also put these types of instruments into practice, for example by facilitating focus groups in English and Spanish or monitoring survey responses. You will be responsible for analyzing data, for example by using qualitative analysis software like NVivo or Dedoose to identify themes and patterns in interview and focus group transcripts and open-ended survey responses, and for writing clear reports for technical and lay audiences that integrate qualitative and quantitative data. ICF often takes a participatory approach to our research and evaluation projects, and you will be expected to collaborate closely with practitioners, for example by integrating their input on research design and instruments and co-interpreting data.

Areas of responsibility may include:

  • Collaborating with project directors to design research studies, especially in ways that are inclusive to Spanish-speaking individuals

  • Creating English and Spanish-language data collection instruments, both from scratch and by adapting instruments from one language to another

  • Facilitating interviews and focus groups in English and Spanish

  • Analyzing qualitative data, including open-ended survey responses and interview and focus group transcripts, including data collected from both English and Spanish instruments.

  • Writing research and evaluation reports and creating other products (e.g., data visualizations, research briefs) in English and Spanish.

  • Delivering technical assistance on research and evaluation topics (e.g., how to write good surveys) to organizations in English and Spanish.

  • Contribute to business development, for example by drafting descriptions of evaluation designs and processes.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in public policy, economics, education, psychology, political science, other social science related subject

  • Fluency in English and Spanish

  • 5+ years of experience conducting/leading qualitative research or program evaluation, including experience coding transcripts and open-ended survey responses

  • Experience using qualitative analysis software such as NVivo, Dedoose, or Atlas.TI.

  • Demonstrated experience taking responsibility and ownership of project tasks

  • Strong ability to multi-task

  • Strong interest and/or experience in related topics such as child welfare, education, capacity building, technical assistance, culturally responsive evaluation, participatory evaluation, implementation science and/or CQI

Preferred Skills:

  • Master’s degree in public policy, economics, education, psychology, political science, other social science related subject

  • Experience working independently to develop innovative solutions to research interests and challenges

  • Experience sharing lessons learned and building skills of colleagues

  • Prior work experience in a consulting environment

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.

The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:

$69,862.00 - $118,765.00
