Description Senior Coder (297441) Schedule: FTE 1.0, Day The Coder Abstractor II is responsible for the coding/abstracting of acute care services, which may include inpatient, outpatient surgery and/or other outpatient services, and/or ED encounters (including charging-related functions such as E/M levels & charges) in accordance with all regulatory requirements, official, authoritative coding sources (e.g., official coding guidelines), and all facility requirements. Required Qualifications: Associate's Degree and/or higher degree in a healthcare related program Upon hire: National Certification from American Academy of Professional Coders Or National Certified Coding Associate - American Health Information Management Association Or National Certified Coding Specialist - American Health Information Management Association Or National Certified Coding Specialist - Physician - American Health Information Management Association Or National Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner - American Health Information Management Association Or National Certified Health Data Analyst - American Health Information Management Association Or National Registered Health Information Administrator - American Health Information Management Association Or National Registered Health Information Technician - American Health Information Management Association 1 year acute hospital-based coding experience - inpatient, ED, or ASU. Preferred Qualifications: Associate degree in a program related to Health Information Management or Health Information Technology Coursework/Training Graduate of an AHIMA accredited Health Information Technology or Health Information Management program or self-study course Upon hire: A passing score on the national certification examination for RHIA or RHIT Upon hire: Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) - American Health Information Management Association Upon hire: CPC-H 1 year hospital based HIM department background experience or experience through practicum of an AHIMA accredited Health Information Technology or Health Information Management program.
