Kelly Services Buyer in Everett, California

Kelly Engineering is seeking a Buyer to join our client's team in the aerospace industry. This is a direct hire opportunity offering a competitive annual salary of $80-90K, based on experience. Position Summary

The Buyer is responsible for the procurement of designated materials, supplies, and equipment to meet production goals. The ideal candidate will be an expert in their commodities, with a strong understanding of suppliers, market trends, and strategies within the industry. Key responsibilities include ensuring materials flow to production just in time, negotiating contracts with vendors, and implementing stocking strategies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Issue purchase orders (POs) promptly to ensure on-time delivery from suppliers to production.

  • Run open order reports to confirm dates on incoming POs and avoid past due POs.

  • Coordinate with suppliers to adjust POs to avoid shortages and reduce inventory.

  • Negotiate PO cancellations with vendors to avoid material charges.

  • Work with manufacturing and suppliers to mitigate shortages and avoid production delays.

  • Use the ERP system to pull forecasts for production and materials planning.

  • Create and submit supplier scorecards to track performance metrics like quality, cost, and on-time delivery.

  • Drive work transfers between internal and external sources to optimize cost, quality, and on-time delivery.

  • Negotiate price increases with vendors, leveraging industry knowledge, raw material trends, and competing quotes.

  • Conduct price comparisons and ROI analysis to support decision-making.

  • Collaborate with leadership on LTA and MSA contracts with vendors to secure long-term pricing and advantageous terms.

  • Review lead times and purchasing parameters to improve procurement planning.

  • Support the procurement team in business unit presentations for supply chain.

  • Understand the commodities market and industry trends, including raw materials.

  • Promote and enforce safe work practices.

  • Foster a positive and respectful workplace environment.

  • Pursue ongoing self-development and personal growth.

  • Travel as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management or related field, or equivalent experience.

  • 2 to 5 years of industry-related experience in procurement, contract negotiations, logistics, materials management, inventory, or warehousing.

  • Experience in lean practices is a plus.

  • Authorization to work in the U.S. is required.

  • Eligibility for any required export authorizations from the U.S. Government if applicable.

  • Experience with ERP software.

  • Experience with productivity and continuous improvement projects.

  • Experience with transfer of work to a new source.

  • Experience in purchasing contract manufactured parts/assemblies.
