Job Description Summary
The Edison Works Military Material Systems Section plays a critical role in the development, industrialization, and production of ceramic, polymeric, and metallic materials and hardware for Edison Works' military products. The Advanced Military Integrated Structures Sub-Section Manager will lead a team of development engineers to identify, develop, and mature materials and processes (M&P) technology to meet military program objectives and external customer expectations. The selected candidate for this position will lead and work with personnel from various engineering disciplines, management, and technicians every day in an office and laboratory environment.

Roles and Responsibilities
Manages medium team of senior professionals, junior professionals, specialists, and technologists. Requires specialized knowledge within the function. Influence the development of strategy for the area of responsibility, including control of resources and influences policy formulation. Motivate team to execute on commitments within budgetary and schedule constraints, proactively communicating challenges that place deliverables at risk

Interprets simple internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services. Stays informed of industry trends that may inform work.

Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and is able to construct and provide recommendations. Conceptual, or theoretical activities relating to the development, improvement, and usage of materials, coatings, and processes undertaken to build, apply, or shape the materials.
May lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Communicates difficult concepts and may influence others' options on particular topics. May guide others to consider a different point of view.
Implement and maintain lean principles (daily management, standard work, etc.)
Required Qualifications
Applicants must be United States citizens (dual citizens will not be considered)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in Engineering or technical discipline
Minimum 6 years of experience in an engineering or technical discipline
Secure and maintain a DoD SECRET security clearance
Desired Characteristics
8 years of experience in an engineering or technical discipline
Master's Degree or Doctorate from an accredited university or college in engineering or other technical discipline, business, or financial management
Personnel management experience
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems
Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects
Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs
Established project management skills
Previous experience with lean and associated tools
Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
Ability to work independently and efficiently
Experience using Spotfire

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
