The GE Aerospace Consulting Engineer - CMC Analysis and Lifing leads projects and initiatives with broad scope and high impact to the business and is a recognized expert in mechanical analysis. In this role, you will be responsible for major and complex assignments with long-term business implications, manage complex issues within this functional area of expertise, and contribute to the overall business strategy. You will develop and guide less experienced engineers and will be responsible for program strategic planning, technology readiness level advancement, and program and business level initiatives/needs.

The GE Aerospace Consulting Engineer - CMC Analysis and Lifing will provide consultation and oversight for the analysis of CMC components on existing and future product applications. You will support problem resolution, facilitate technical change, drive standardization and process improvements, and provide mentorship within the discipline areas of expertise. You will also collaborate closely with relevant Design Boards to define and execute a strategic roadmap for the advancement of analysis and lifing methodologies.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as a recognized technical expert in CMC mechanical analysis and lifing methodologies, and provide consultation to management, all design organizations, supplier and manufacturing organizations

  • Remain cognizant of state-of-the-art in CMC mechanical analysis and lifing

  • Provide technical leadership in design reviews, task force, industrial committees, and design boards as necessary

  • Work closely with the Chief Consulting Engineer in area of expertise

  • Enhance technical excellence in assigned organizations, including the development of standard work and implementing process improvements.

  • Identify and recommend where improvements in knowledge of the specific discipline or where technical training is needed

  • Establish a total quality management strategy to assure early involvement on manufacturing process/producibility matters

  • Champion CMC Mechanical Analysis pyramid health and proactively develop technical pipeline

  • Provide strategic leadership and guidance to ensure robust analysis and lifing roadmaps

  • Suggest areas where technology advancements are needed and recommend approaches / programs to pursue

  • Lead / support study teams to address top problems within the organization or projects in focused technical areas, including protection of IP.

  • Provide leadership and guidance during the design review process and preside over formal technology, process/methodology, and design milestone reviews

  • Participate and Lead design board activities

  • Provide technical mentoring to the global Controlled Titled Holder community and pipeline

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science

  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in engineering design and technology.

DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in the Aerospace industry, specifically related to mechanical and/or CMC analysis

  • Ability to mentor and coach diverse technical teams and provide technical guidance to product line teams

  • Leadership to pursue correct engineering process in adverse conditions

  • Ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization

  • Considered an expert in composites mechanical analysis

  • Master of Science in Engineering from an accredited university or college

  • Experience as Controlled Title Holder within GE Aerospace

  • Demonstrated leadership in product safety and related processes

  • Experience with the engineering side of the design, manufacturing, servicing, and repair of applicable modules and components
