Aerotek Machinist in Evansville, Indiana

Job Title: Machinist (CNC or Manual Machinist)

Job Description

Operate CNC and/or machines (lathes and/or mills) to produce unique parts. This position is in a shop setting. Clean and inspect completed parts to ensure they meet specifications. There are ample advancement opportunities including roles such as Machinist I, Machinist II, Machinist III, and management positions within the machining department. Starting Pay Ranges :

  • $25/hr. - $34/hr.

Available Shifts (4 days/wk.)

  • 1st: 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM

  • 2nd: 3:30 PM - 2:00 AM

  • 3rd: 10:00 PM - 6:30 AM

Shifts will be either Monday - Thursday OR Tuesday - Friday

Responsibilities

  • Edit 2D programming in machines.

  • Set up machine with raw materials and secure materials for job.

  • Set up tooling specific to job scope with assistance.

  • Perform a dry run of the job to ensure machine will produce parts specific to job scope.

  • Read basic G-code and M-code. Ensure machine is operating according to the program.

  • Constantly monitor machine to ensure the manufacture of accurate components per job specifications.

  • Clean, de-bur, and inspect finished parts to ensure they were manufactured to specifications.

  • Use measuring devices and techniques to ensure proper sizings per each specific job.

  • Read and interpret blueprints to ensure parts are correct and according to job scope.

  • Record materials used throughout the process including types and varieties.

  • Record data throughout the process including sizings and illustrations to ensure proper outcome of jobs.

  • Use various handheld and stationary power and non-power tools as needed, including but not limited to band saws, belt sanders, hand grinders, and files.

Essential Skills

  • CNC machining (2+ years)

  • Experience with mills and lathes (2+ years)

  • Blueprint reading (2+ years)

  • Precision measuring tools: Micrometers / Calipers / etc. (2+ years)

  • G-code and M-code knowledge

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • CNC programming/editing experience

  • Formal education/degree within machining/machine tool technology

  • Crane and forklift operating experience

  • Large machining experience

Work Environment

This is a very large job shop facility that is semi-climate controlled. The machine shop can become hot during the summer and cool during the winter. Shifts available include: 1st shift (6 AM – 4:30 PM), 2nd shift (3:30 PM - 2 AM), and 3rd shift (10 PM – 6:30 AM). Required tools include power tools, air tools, and basic hand tools, while specialty tools are provided. Attire includes steel toe boots, work pants, and high-visibility shirts provided by the company. Additional PPE such as earplugs, safety glasses, gloves, and respirators are also provided.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $34.00
