HD Supply Pricing Analyst in Etobicoke, Ontario

Job Summary

Gather disparate data from various data sources, analyzes and normalizes the data to ensure quality of data for analysis. Responsible for providing consistent, relevant and accurate data as well as guidance/knowledge of the data and definitions that are available for analysis. A pricing analyst is responsible for analyzing competitor pricing matched with market expectations to determine the ideal target price for products of the business. Duties include providing thorough analytical breakdowns of pricing structures and sales funnels of similar competitor products and services and identifying specific strategies used in pricing models of the same. Report to evaluate the findings and to propose the results to the relevant departments for effect. A bachelor's degree in business or a related field is often required to be a pricing analyst. Specialization and experience in the field, it is typical that pricing analysts possess strong working experience in the industry as a pricing analyst or in another relevant position dealing with competitor pricing and sales.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

  • Forecasting revenue and market share based on market trends, production costs, profit margins, and sales volumes.

  • Serves as a resource to assigned client in area of expertise.

  • Gathers and compiles raw data; conducts research for industry trends and benchmarks; and normalizes data to be incorporated into a centralized data format.

  • Identify ideal pricing structures and sales funnels

  • Analyzes, reports, makes comparisons to industry/company benchmarks, determines trends, and prepares cost analyses.

  • Defines data definitions and documents data limitations.

  • Tracking customer engagement to develop effective pricing strategies for products and offerings.

  • Scope out opportunities based on market trends and industry condition

  • Applying statistical modeling methods to determine the potential impact of pricing strategies on profitability.

  • Prepares spreadsheets for data analysis; prepare reports with charts and graphs, mailing lists, maps and ad hoc requests. May make presentations.

  • Provides recommendations based on findings and analysis; provides input on policies and procedures.

  • Analyzing competitor pricing and market trends to increase market share and profitability.

  • Assessing data from a variety of sources to gain insights into pricing strategies and market trends.

  • Keeping informed on pricing analysis methods and industry trends.

Nature and Scope

  • Demonstrates skill in data analysis techniques by resolving missing/incomplete information and inconsistencies/anomalies in more complex research/data.

  • Nature of work requires increasing independence; receives guidance only on unusual, complex problems or issues. Work review typically involves periodic review of output by a supervisor and/or direct customers of the process.

  • May provide general guidance/direction to or train junior level support or professional personnel.

Work Environment

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Education and Experience

  • Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 5-8 years of experience in a related field OR MS/MA and generally 2-4 years of experience in a related field. Certification is required in some areas

  • Proficiency in business intelligence (BI) software, such as Sisense and InetSoft Style Intelligence.

  • In-depth knowledge of statistical methods and data analysis.

  • Extensive experience in analyzing pricing strategies and forecasting revenue and market share.

  • Experience in collaborating on pricing strategies with sales and marketing departments.

  • Ability to keep abreast of industry trends and develop dynamic pricing tools.

  • Advanced ability to present pricing analysis reports to relevant stakeholders.
