Delta-Schoolcraft Isd Small Wonders Preschool Aide in Escanaba, Michigan

*Starting Date: * Fall 2024-2025 School Year

Schedule: Monday-Thursday 8:15 AM - 3:45 PM (7.5 Hours/Day), Small Wonders School Calendar Schedule

Small Wonders is looking to hire a part time (30 hours per week) classroom assistant for the Small Wonders Great Start Readiness Program. The role consists of working with the program director, lead teacher and associate teacher to assist in implementing both approved and developmentally appropriate curriculum to enhance the growth and development of children enrolled in the program. The preschool assistant must provide a safe and nurturing environment that is conducive to the growth, learning and success of children.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attend professional development training events put on by our GSRP Administrative Team, Great Start to Quality Resource Center, or through MiRegistry and other outlets as needed to meet continued education licensing requirements
  • Learn and utilize the center's curriculum (HighScope Curriculum) and behavior management model (Pyramid Model) within the classroom
  • Reach out to the Early Childhood Specialist for additional support, training opportunities and classroom tools as needed
  • Assist each morning with classroom setup by setting up chairs, setting up activities at the carpet, prepping for daily lessons and greeting the students as they arrive
  • Assist in meal preparation and clean up for breakfast, snack and lunch time
  • Assist the lead and associate teacher in facilitating small group
  • Model mealtime behaviors while participating in family style meals 
  • Assist in laying out the cots for daily rest time
  • Monitor child interactions during indoor and outdoor playtime
  • Assist in maintaining a clean, safe entrance to our playground by clearing the wood chips off the sidewalk and any light snowfall throughout the day. Notify maintenance if snow removal is needed. 
  • Ensure playground equipment and toys are picked up at the end of each day. 
  • Assist in classroom management
  • Assist in preparing the students for pick up at the end of each day
  • Assist with toiletry training and diaper changing as needed
  • Additional tasks as assigned by the lead teacher or program director
  • Clean and sanitize the classroom, play equipment and toys
  • Responsible for ensuring your fingerprints, CPR/First Aid Certification and all mandated requirements are up to date and maintained per LARA guidelines
