Yard Transportation Coordinator

Location: Erlanger, KY, USA - 2825 Crescent Springs Pike

Schedule: Thursday-Sunday, 6am-4:30pm. Shift subject to change based on needs of the business. OT mandatory if required.

Full-time, permanent- benefit and bonus eligible


Job Summary

Reporting to the Sr. Transportation Manager, the Yard Transportation Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring our Operations, Transportation and Quality systems are all functioning as planned, and acting as the key communicator when deviations occur. Daily duties include monitoring proper trailer temperatures are maintained, third party vendor oversight, and overall efficient coordination of Erlanger Yard activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight and management of Erlanger Yard activities.

  • Responsible for trailer temperature management for trailers in the yard

  • Coordinate trailer parking and yard organization

  • Overwatch of yard activity to ensure MCK protocols are being followed by external maintenance and CRST employees.

  • Direct and Monitor any Maintenance/Service personnel in Yard.

  • Validate any Temp Adjustments are returned to the correct setting.

  • Complete Yard Inspections

  • Check /Monitor trailer fuel levels.

  • Visually inspect trailers. Document any issues and forward to CRST.

  • Ensure Yard Tractor maintenance is performed timely.

  • Direct and assist drivers, as needed.

  • Liaison between CRST, Warehouse & Transportation on trailer issues (maintenance and/or equipment) or change communication.

  • Update Arrival and Departure Boards and communicate to DC ops.

  • Works in partnership with the 3PL transportation on-call person to review starting Wednesday and update through Sunday.

  • Follow up on deficiencies identified and general Check In (Drivers)

  • Other tasks as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Typically requires 5+ years of related experience

Additional Qualifications

  • 5 years of overall work experience. 2+ years of experience directly in transportation operations, yard management and/or facilities

  • Familiarity with refrigerated trailers and key components

  • Valid and current regular driver's license with the ability to drive yard tractor(s) and move trailers, as needed.

  • Intermediate proficiency with MS office (word, excel), expereince with Smartsheet would be an asset

  • Experience and/or certification with warehouse equipment such as Forklift, Pallet Jack and Reach Truck is strongly preferred

  • Ability to work autonomously

  • Good critical thinking skills with the ability to see the "big picture"and be proactive

  • Excellent organization and prioritization with competing priorities with strong attention to detail

Physical Demands (may or may not include all of some of the following):

  • Must be comfortable working at heights

  • Must be comfortable working in the freezer when required

  • Ability to walk up to 10 miles throughout the course of a shift (steps vary per shift)

  • Ability to lift 20-40 pounds repetitively throughout the course of a shift without assistance; ability to lift greater weights in a team lift (weight varies based on product)

  • May sit, stand, stoop, bend and walk intermittently during the day.

  • May sit or stand seven (7) to ten (10) hours per day.

  • May be necessary to work extended hours as needed.

  • Finger dexterity to operate office equipment required.

  • May need to lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds on occasion.

  • Visual acuity to see and read fine prints. Specific vision abilities required by this role include close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.

  • Must be able to hear normal voice sounds.

Our Base Pay Range for this position

$21.74 - $36.24
