Responsibilities

The Business Intelligence Engineer is responsible for the full lifecycle of Business Intelligence solution development.  The role will lead the delivery of data visualizations, reporting and self-serve analytics across the business as well as evangelizing and promoting the value of a centralized business intelligence discipline.  This role would generally not have budgetary responsibility, but decisions may affect the services or products. This role requires regular analysis of data and the ability to meet interpersonal, analytical and organizational demands.

With moderate discretion, the role of the BI Engineer is to help business teams drive improvement in key business metrics, customer experience and business results. BI Engineers interact with various development teams, project managers, internal and external customers, senior management, and external vendors.  Members of this role support Data Engineers to build data objects for business intelligence, reporting and analytics.  They must have an in-depth understanding of the business environment, and strong analytical and communication skills. Individuals must work well within a team environment. Working under limited supervision, the problems encountered somewhat complex and may require analysis of data.  Finally, the role will require normal courtesy, tact and diplomacy, which involves much personal contact with others.

SKILLS: * Strong analytical and problem- solving skills * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * Proven self- starter with an understanding of personal and team accountability * Excellent organizational, time management and project management skills * Skilled in MS SQL Server administrative and development concepts, practices and procedures * In-depth understanding of database management systems, online analytical processing (OLAP) and ETL (Extract, transform, load) framework * In-depth knowledge of SQL and Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) * Familiarity with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) * Familiarity with data warehouse design (e.g. dimensional modeling) and data mining * Proven experience with Business Intelligence technologies such as Microsoft Power BI, Oracle BI, Tableau, etc * Understands and can apply fundamental concepts, practices and procedures related to building predictive models using languages such as Python and R
